Matthew: I would like a casual dining/dive bar experience to unwind from my electrical engineering job of designing intergalactic spaceship communication systems....preferably in the Herndon or Reston area...you know the high tech center of the world. Any suggestions?
Steve: Well Matthew, the first place that comes to mind is Jimmy's Old Town Tavern at the corner of Spring and Elden Streets in Herndon VA.
Check out the pictures below young man and see if it has the kind of "vibe" you are looking for.
Matthew: What are those girls in pink doing?
Steve: Well, that is questionable at any particular moment in time...BUT their main purpose on this particular evening is to raise money for their Breast Cancer Charity Walk.
They and fellow RE/MAX Gateway agents and friends raise bunches of money each year for this worthy cause.
As you can see from the fun they are having at Jimmy's....this is certainly a more entertaining way to raise money than accosting people on their door step or soliciting online contributions.
Opened in 1997 by Jimmy Cirrito and family, the tavern has attracted a strong local following yet remaining a place where the many business travelers passing through our town can feel instantly at home.
The building was built in 1897, otherwise we would be claiming that George Washington slept here which he apparently did in every other building between here and Mount Vernon.
With all the sleeping he was doing it is a wonder that he got the country underway. Oh...back to Jimmy's...Check out their website right here: Jimmy's Tavern in Old Town Herndon
Many thanks to Jimmy's for hosting this event...what nice people eh?
There aren't many places like Jimmy's any more..so come on down for lunch, dinner or just to hang on the corner with your friend. It's fun.
