Once again I say 'Call first'!

By
Home Stager

It can't be said often enough: Sellers call for a Staging consult before your strip your house.

By trying to get a head start at decluttering, you may remove the perfect piece for staging.

Your stager will arrive with fresh eyes to look at your home. That piece you packed or tossed may have come in handy when used in a whole new way.

You may remove the wrong piece of furniture from the room.

Don't empty rooms for buyers. 80% of buyers need furniture to visualize how their furnishings would fit. Each room should show a clear purpose.

Stagers change homes from living mode to selling mode and there are very different guidelines. Don't waste your time and efforts doing the wrong things. Find out what areas will give you the best ROI if you update.

Staging is about marketing your home. Find out what subliminal messages your home is sending out.

You've heard of 'call before you dig'. Well call before you declutter.

Make the correct changes and reap the rewards.

This is some pretty simple advice. In an eagerness to get started sometimes a mistake is made...sort of like life!

Janice,

It is interesting that sometimes stagers will take a focal point quite different than the homeowner. So, if they have decent enough furniture, this makes a lot of sense.

Brian, we do look at the house from another perspective. It's so important to use what you have correctly. Staging is not just about rentals.

Good advice Janice, it's beat to let the professional see the whole picture first.

Sharon, can you tell I had another client who had started without me LOL. The Realtor warned me that a lot had already been removed and they might have to bring some stuff back.

Hi Janice--it's like cleaning before the maids arrive--no it's worse than that.  As you say the things that get removed and packed away could find a whole new life under a stager's eye.

I’m surprised only 80% of buyers need furniture to visualize how their furnishings would fit.

Jim, rooms actually look smaller when empty. The majority of buyers can't visualize without a reference point.
