Tonight I was trying to get an offer together for a client in Hawaii. I was using the free digital signature system provided by my local association (thank you so, so much for doing this, it is totally awesome that you are providing additional benefits at no additional costs to your members and it is in no way your fault that it didn’t work out) but for some reason it just wasn’t working. He thought he had finished signing. I thought he had finished signing because I received an email saying he had finished signing. Simple enough, right? Nope. Even signing in to view the documents was difficult, and when I got into their website, it said that it was still pending. Here it is, 10 at night, I’m texting the local client apologizing for the late hour and texting the client in Hawaii apologizing for the confusion. And the “other guy’s” support is only open Monday through Friday. They know real estate is a 24/7 business, don’t they? Thanks, but by Monday I expect the house will be taken.
Finally I just went to DocuSign. I was surprised to see that they offer 5 envelopes a month for FREE!!! Okay, I have to confess now, I used to use DocuSign. It was always easy, even my most technologically challenged client was able to use it. With no explanation. Seriously. So why did I stop? I had less out of town clients, some of the banks won't use digital signatures, I was being penny wise and pound foolish. (That’s the saying, right?) Side note - even with in town clients, DocuSign can save you from driving across town to get a signature and the banks that won't take digital signatures seem to be fewer than the ones that will. Anyways...
So I resent all the paperwork through DocuSign. It came back to me like a breeze. Thank you DocuSign, you may have just helped my client get a house she’s incredibly excited about. Fingers crossed and I’ll keep ya posted.
This post is a submission to the DocuSign/ActiveRain Electronic Signature Stories Contest for the "Have Used" (and love!) category. It's possible I will win a prize for writing this post. (Wish me luck!) You could win a prize too by going to the Contest Announcement and sharing your own story.
