Somerset Collection CityLoft downtown Detroit

By

Somerset Collection, a luxury shopping mall in Troy, MI has opened Somerset Collection CityLoft in downtown Detroit. The downtown loft set up is 4,000 square feet and consists of 41 mini boutiques from Troy Somerset Collections retailers. What really makes the idea worth while to me is that a portion of the weekend sales proceeds goes to support local Detroit non profits and community organizations! Way to go Somerset Collection CityLoft.

Somerset CityLoft has very limited days and hours throughout the next few months that is open but I love the idea. This may be an opportunity for Detroit to show that we can support and sustain luxury shops. There are a lot of people that I know who drives 30 minutes to Troy to buy Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Burberry but wont support their own city. Maybe this will be a chance to show large retailers that Detroiters have the spending power needed to eventually open permanent high fashion boutiques.

When the CityLoft opens its dooes again in August I will surely make sure I stop in and check out the new digs.

Hi Harry -- what a great concept in a city where optimism and positive messages are so needed.  I love the idea of pop-up stores and retailing --- very innovative and a great way to "test"  a market for viability of the idea.   Also good to hear that a percentage of the sales is going back to the community.  I suggest you put this in some additional groups for added exposure outside Michigan.

Some SEO tips:  Go back and edit your post and INCLUDE Somerset City Lofts in the post title.  Edit the post with your search terms of : Somerset City Lofts, Somerset Collection -- bold these terms.  If you know how to put up a Google map in your post, do so.  Here is a very light-weight example of Google Juice we can create from our blogs, when done right!  I posted this Stepping Stone Cafe the other week.  It only ranked 3rd page Google, because I was half-assing it.  BUT . . . I had stiff competition with YELP, TripAdvisor, UrbanSpoon, Portland City Search.  If I would have done it a little better, I would have placed better.  It was an experiment anyway, but got up to 3rd page Google, which isn't too bad.

If you want your posts to RANK in Google, there is a SEO.  I'm a NOVICE, I understand just enough to play around.  But if you want to really GET FOUND you need to know the basics -- I know the basics.  If you want some tips, although I'm not an "official" ActiveRain Ambassador, I'd me happy to help.  Give me a call.

Harry - COOL concept!  I grew up in Redford Township and only visited Somerset mall once - it was a bit pricey for me!  (I was 15 at the time.....)
