Hi John, Those flowers are very unusual and just beautiful. We have a flower expert and I would bet he knows what these are. I will send him over to your post and perhaps he will weigh in.

Hi John,  We have enjoyed these beautiful and indeed unusual purple flowers too.  Although never knew the name.  We've noticed they thrive in the higher elevations as so do many of NM beautiful wildflowers.  It will be intresting to se what William finds out about them.  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing your flower photographs.  Looks like you have discovered a new hobby.  We'll have to watch for the experts to provide the correct names.

 Blooming for you.

Must laugh as I type but true story.  HOA told me to pull a beautiful blooming weed in my front yard.  It was the one and only weed in the yard and it was in full awesome bloom.  A board member actually ran into me at the mailbox and mentioned the "weed".  I responded with, "oh isn't it the most beautiful blooming weed you've ever seen!"  It almost killed him but he had to admit it was beautiful. I assured him it would be removed as soon as it finished blooming.  We departed friends and no I didn't not get an HOA weed ticket.

I have to say they are very pretty, even if they are a weed. I personally think they look a little like a purple sunflower.

That's a thistle. Not sure exactly which one without seeing the plant and the leaves.
