We love this place!
The breathtaking Reno/Sparks/Lake Tahoe area goes beyond just being an exciting gaming destination. Despite the rumor, Reno is not located anywhere near Las Vegas. In fact, the towns are separated by more than 440 miles of desert and mountains. It's about 30-minute drive to Lake Tahoe or 1 hour drive to Sacramento, CA.
Reno's Temperate Character
At 4500 feet altitude, the Reno area offers four distinct seasons with few extremes. Average temperatures range from winter lows in the 20's to summer highs in the 90's. Low humidity characterizes the area, making the cool days seem not so cold, and the warm days not so hot. Rain is scarce (fewer than eight inches on average annually), as are cloudy days. Snow is certain (23.5 inches on average per year), though it tends to melt by late afternoon in the valleys. Here, the sun shines more than 300 days a year, providing warm days, cool nights and blue skies.
My Travels Around Reno
Today, I decided not to take the freeway. Instead I took the back roads. Wow! I was able to appreciate our fall scenery. The fall colors are everywhere. It's currently around 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Meteorologist is forecasting in the 70's degrees next week.
Clean air... NO SMOG. We RARELY have smog here in Reno. Washoe County has strict guidelines to keep our air quality clean.
Clean.. cool.. air. Perfect time to walk the dog, go for a jog, or work on my blog at a park. I think I'll just work on my blog at a park. He.. he.. :-)
