Glacier View Meadows Thumbs UP for Northern Colorado Med-Evac

By
Real Estate Agent with United Country Ponderosa Realty, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado

Last Saturday, Livermore residents in the Glacier View Meadows Subdivision had an opportunity to see and learn about the Northern Colorado Med-Evac Helicopter.

The Northern Colorado Med-Evac service has been in operation since 2008. They fly 2 Bell 407 choppers within a 300 mile radius of Greeley, CO;  serving Northern Colorado, Southern Wyoming and Western Nebraska and fly over 1500 missions per year.

The crew consists of a pilot, a registered nurse and a paramedic.  They can transport one critically ill or injured patient to the nearest appropriate facility in record time.

Flying 160 miles per hour, the Med-Evac helicopter bridges the distance to the nearest hospital for our mountain residents and people in need of emergency medical services, reducing drive time of 45 minutes (to Poudre Valley Hospital) to just 10 minutes!

First responders, like our Fire Departments, Sheriffs or Paramedics in the area are the ones who usually call for the NCME transport.

It was interesting to see it land and when the coast was clear, our grandson was one of the first to jump in.

He was disappointed that they weren’t giving any free rides that day!

Although this is a ride none of us ever hope to take, it’s good to know that Northern Colorado Med-Evac is there when needed.

Mary that must have been very cool for the residents to see - especially for kids.  Might make a future pilot of that little guy!

Hey Mary how are you. We closed on a property this summer and the buyer was a Med Vac pilot here in the Montrose area. Interesting job.

Hi Mary!  Helicoptors are fascinating......when my dad was in the hospital I used to watch the helicoptor land and take off, bringing patients to the hospital or going to pick them up.  I think I want any helicoptor rides I take to be for pleasure!

Mary,

This is certainly a worthy part of medical emergency.  I didn't realize these travel up to 160 mph... g

Mary, I'm glad that helicoptor just came for the showing and not for a real reason.  I didn't know they could fly 160 MPH - somehow I always thought it was much slower.  Learned something new!!!!

What a great service for the community! Hope your grandson never HAS to fly in it.  Actually, I'd love a helicopter ride someday too.

I think helicoptors are an essential component to rescue and emergency in outlying parts of the country.  Those are neat photos by the way.  Love the lay of the land!

Hi Anna, it was cool to see it, our son-in-law used to work on airplanes, so .....he might be a pilot someday!

Hi Nick, I'm fine, thanks for asking :-)  I think it would be a very interesting job - requiring nerves of steel in some weather conditions!  Hope you are doing well, too.

Ann, I'm with you!  I would like to try another pleasure ride in a helicopter - the first time, I think I was too afraid to enjoy it; actually felt like I needed a paramedic!  LOL

Gordon, I didn't know that either, I was amazed by how fast they can go - Definitely a plus in an emergency!

Hi Juli, I didn't know that either, I was picturing something like the choppers on MASH :-)  I'm glad they didn't have to land for a real emergency either...but I think they would be a welcome sight when needed

Hi Linda, Oh, I hope he never HAS to ride it in either! but it's nice to know it's available for those that do.

Thanks Myrl, I agree with you about outlying areas...and wouldn't it be wonderful if they could land in large metropolitan areas and avoid all that traffic!?  (I love the lay of the land in my Glacier View Meadows, too xoxox)

Hi, Mary!  Your residents in the RFL area should appreciate your information about your Med-Evac service that is available.  Time is critical with life threatening issues and this makes all the difference in the world!  Who does you grandson get his boldness from to be the first one to jump into the chopper?  Perhaps, grandma?  ^_~

Hi Tammy, I think Abigail would have loved it too - that's right up her alley!

Hi Bruce, time is critical, you're right.  I'm not sure from where our grandson got it but he very gregarious - you should have seen him hustle to be one of the first in line for the pot luck that followed the helicopter tour!   :-)HAHA!

Mary - Thankfully I have never been in a med evac helicopter and I hope it stays that way.  I saw one in my area once land in the middle of the road at the scene of a car accident, but it wasn't your standard helicopter, it was a pretty incredible site.

A great Med Evac helicopter. In the service of colorado and the neighboring states, emergency reponses can be way more fast and therefore more lives can be saved during critical situations. Hope to see more and our government keep their service at the highest level for the people.
