Are new agents really different ?

Every generation is different and so is the crop now entering the real estate game.

I came out of the REBELLIOUS HIPPIE 60'S which is still trying to stay young and maintain control-we are called BABY BOOMERS.

I never knew many who survived the Great Depression and the Roaring 20's but those magnets must have really thought the later crowds were weird and useless.

The game of real estate has changed a lot since I started in 1974 with only mls bound books and homes selling for $20/ft.

We made a lot of cold calls, knocked on doors  did mail box and door hangers, and tell 20 etc.

Today, it appears that real sales people using closing and sales techniques is dwindling fast.

Agents today look more like high tech order takers as the younger buying market is totally different.

We know that the retiring downsize market has to be tremendous but where is it?

My question, for the future is, will we see the high paid super stars of the past or just order takers content to make enough to pay the bills.

I think we will see a little of both.

I think the future consumer will determine which of the two will be the norm.

I suspect that many agents are using the high tech to attract buyers who are also high tech.  There are still agents who "work" their past client list hard.

The "retiring downsize market has to be tremendous" is stuck in their homes because their equity has dried up to 2000 levels.  Their plans are in the toilet with their equity.

Bob there is no question that technology is driving our market, but what I find interesting is some of the old techniques that had to be used to get clients, like door knocking and cold calling is coming back.  Yes, I see newer agents and seasoned agents using these techniques in my market.....
