Photoblog Wednesday - Yup... It's a barn...

On my way back from backpacking in Pinnacles National Monument last weekednd, I saw this barn on the side of the road.  Sometimes we seem to just be driving and never stop to really look at the true beauty that can exist outside of what we were looking for or looking at.  I stopped my truck and just stood on the nurf bar and took the picture...  Luckily no one was coming up behind me.

Now, there is a telephone line that runs in the middle of the picture...  But it still was a neat site to look at.  I just wonder what the people do in that particular barn...  Care to take a guess?

Hi Chris, well, maybe they just store hay in there and then they may actually roll in the hay or at least lay in it and take a break or something... :-)

Chris - That's a beautiful shot.  I love barns.  What is it about them?  Ok, I'm going to guess they milk cows in that barn.  Moooooooo.

From my growing up on the farm, I know stuff happens in the barn. Some fond memories of playing hide and seek in barns like that. Have a great day!

Chris,

That is a great photo!  I love country scenes like this.  My guess, seeing that there is a fence just outside the barn, that animals are housed in this barn and hay storage in the upper level.

Hi Chris~ This shot looks surreal, somewhat like the set of a Clint Eastwood movie, back in the day!

Beautiful photo!

Chris - I wasn't even focused on the phone line until you pointed it out.  I love to take pictures of old, falling down barn, but there aren't many near here.

You might need to add your barn pictures to the archives of Rob Thomas, our famous ActiveRain barn photographer.

Have a great day and an outstanding weekend.  Be sure to have your camera in hand for those special moments.

Telephone or cable lines around, my guess is people are living in it.  Barns have been converted to homes so why not this one!

Chris, if you didn't mention the telephone lines, I wouldn't have even noticed them. Maybe those are party lines for the cows to talk to God up there when they are under the weather.

Great photo! Looks like it exemplifies the spirit of Rural America.

There is a farmer inside fixing a box stall that an appaloosa kicked out, and after that a standing stall where another horse has a cribbing problem..like to chew. He's putting on galvanized metal over the exposed top pieces the horse can reach with his mouth and applying not so great tasting licorice flavored goop to make sure the habit is cured. The radio is on, the Judd's are singing "How did you get to me" and at the other end of the barn a blacksmith is putting on new shoes. While the oldest son is sweating, frustrated as he tries to get a couple off a leaking gas line on a narrow front end Farmall H farm tractor that needs to be working, running like a top this afternoon to begin cultivating, hoeing a new back forty of crops. I love barns. Own one.
