Back to School Contest

Real Estate Technology with ActiveRain

Pretty soon the lemonade stands will be a distant memory and all the little angels will be back at their desks, dressed to the nines with brand new SpongeBob lunchboxes.  Most of you are jumping up and down with excitement at the very thought!digitalart

Through much analytical research, we found that back to school searches are heavily used this time of year.  We all know that hyper local posts bring clicks, views and business.  Being up-to-date on the happenings in your neighborhood speaks volumes.

Moms and Dads, Nannys and Grandmas will soon be searching in preparation for the first day of school.  What does little Sophia need on her first day?  What time does school begin and end?  What bus route is closest to home?  When does boys track start?  What is the attendance office's phone number?

Last year, heavily clicked upon blogs included the keywords below:

  • school calendar
  • school supply list
  • bus schedule
  • sports calendar
  • school board

Once again it's time for you to be known as the expert of your Community.

We know that points aren't what it's all about but we're throwing some your way to light that fire.  Write a hyper local post using one of the above keywords and receive 1,000 bonus points.  Points will be awarded for up to 3 posts with a max of 3,000 points total.  Include your post(s) link in the comments below.  Contest ends midnight September 4th.

You are all encouraged to dominate your market and if you need a refresher on SEO, please visit the ARU calendar and sign up for an SEO Training class.  People will find happens every single day!

*Points awarded once contest is over.

Hi Kerri,

I did three - one is about the 4H programs for this school year - to include 4H School Year calendar.

And for the college aged kids and the fans of all ages, two posts - one  about Texas A&M University Sports Calendar and the United States Air Force Academy Sports Calendar.  The football schedules where emphasized.

Thanks for coming up with contests that really make us think about how to apply certain aspects of localism to our blogging.

OK Kerrie, looks like you have your work cut out for you, 676 posts as of this one.  But it's 20 minutes to midnight so you shouldn't be getting many more.  Her is my two:

OK - I have to be the first one to say it: the 3,000 points were a joke right?  Don't worry, I have no gripe and got positive feedback.  If it was a trick, I'm still very happy I posted them as I got nice comments from them and looks great the way it was presented in localism.  But, I had to ask - is it for real.  Yes, I'm a relative newbie and, even worse, I'm from just around NYC.   We don't trust anyone around here!

Am I the only one confused here?  Seriously, I don't get it.  This is the first time I've done a contest on AR. I can clearly see that adding points for about 650 people would be a ridiculous nuisance and very time consuming.  However, I expected some indication like - "The Contest is Now Over and we will be working on the reesults over the next week or two."  I've been away from PUnta Cana too long.  I used to be much more relaxed!

If anyone has any idea, let me know.  Also, if there are any other school related contests, I'd be interested.  I actually got excellent personal feedback from the blogs.  So, as I mentioned a few responsed up, I'm happy with or without the points. I'm just confused.  (Story of my life.)

Hi Kerrie,

I just figured out what you meant by posting the links. All of these were done in August. I hope I can still receive points, my 1st contest?
