The Colorado Springs Parade of Homes is much more than visiting a few models by local builders.  It’s an opportunity to learn the latest in building trends, view state of the art materials and design features, and get introduced to community affordable housing options with Habitat for Humanity or the Rocky Mountain Land Trust homes.  Energy efficiency will be demonstrated in the Gold Mesa model introducing many to geothermal heating and cooling systems along with more aesthetically pleasing smaller roof mounted solar panels.

The only style missing from the tour and a great potential for future parades would be an earth ship style home utilizing an “off the grid” concept not yet embraced by the Colorado Springs home buyers.  Geothermal and affordable solar is a step in the right direction for eco friendly homes.

Tickets for the parade can be purchased at area Safeway stores and the cost is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors.  Car pooling is suggested as parking can be limited especially on high volume weekends.  Wear easy to remove shoes as most builders request shoes be left at the front door for viewing.

The Parade offers a plethora of ideas and vendor referrals from faux painters to landscapers and their business information will be displayed within the show homes.  Builders will be on site or their representatives to answer questions and assist potential clients with future needs.  This is a great way to interact with multiple vendors and view the finished product.

For many the Parade offers a chance to experience the life of the affluent with a once a year opportunity to explore the luxury home market place.  This year there will be 2 homes priced over a million with all the interior design features, landscaping, views, and location catering to the discriminate buyer.  Alliance in Cathedral Pines and Comito in Cedar Heights will be this year’s featured luxury home builders.

Most vendors and builders allow photographs to be taken although some prefer to restrict personal photos and the rules should be displayed within the home.  Please leave the family pets at home.  The Colorado Springs Parade of Homes is a favorite annual event for local residents and visitors and this year will live up to the expectation of participants providing a large gamut of homes to view across a wide range of price points.
