CUSTOMER SERVICE IS CRITICAL TO ANY BUSINESS

By
Home Inspector with Border Home Inspections

On a recent flight across the country I experienced some great customer service and thought I would acknowledge it here. In my business I try to be as professional as possible and the great service I received from Laurie on an Air Canada flight reminded me of just how my clients might feel when treated as though they are important and valued. During the flight Laurie stopped several times and spoke with my children and was very positive. It left the girls in a very relaxed mood. They obviously enjoyed her plesant demenor and felt she was genuinely interested in them. I thought about how the extra few minutes that Laurie spent talking to my children made them feel noticed. Her pure delight of being there doing her job was obvious.

I also considered that she might wish she was somewhere else as many of us do when we are at work, but if she did she was very good at hiding it. Her extra effort in customer service shone through to me and I found myself thinking about how positive I am when dealing with my customers. I will remember her example going forward and try to go that extra mile to make my clients more relaxed as they deal with me.

Aulden my sister is a multi-decade flight attendant. The things they do for passengers are unbelievable. Just imagine if all the passengers treated them the way we would like to be treated? Tip of the hat to Laurie for her extra attention and you for giving her public appreciation.

surely good and bad customer serive is a must have in any business. LOL, some businesses make millions off of bad customer service, because their product is in such demand and they corner the market. so they do not focus on customer service. I myself am in the relationship service business, so I at all times work to please.

Thanks for the great response. I am pleased to see the post has been featured although I don't understand how that happens or what it means exactly. In any case I did let the airline know about the great job Laurie had done. I hope she is acknowledged although it was not her intention I am sure. I know most of this site is realtors and I have to say many of you also go the extra mile time and again. Too bad people often criticise realtors when they do good work like selling a persons home in 24 hours. Kudos to all of you who work tirelessly to work in the best intrests of your customers.

It's too bad that those exceptional experiences are so few and far between, which is why they are so memorable. Once upon a time, they were the norm.

I agree with giving Exceptional Customer Service. It should be given to all in the transaction and most importantly your client.

A lot of times though, I feel that the agents on the other side of the table have no "Shining" Customer Service attitude when working directly with me, lender, or closing rep.

Something to stew over, when working on other deals.

Aulden, it is amazing how a little smile and reassurance goes a long way.  Especially when hundreds of thousands of dollars are on the line.  Great reminder

Unfortunately, many consumers wouldn't describe your experience as exceptional customer service and many more feel because they are consumers that they should be treated as royalty despite their rude and obnoxious behavior. Retailers and their staff face more challenges than our industry because they must deal with and service everybody they encounter. Delivering solutions to customers issues and concerns is the best form of customer service.

Good customer service is getting harder and harder to find.  Most people do not want to pay for it.

I like you always appreciate the people that go the extra steps without asking. I try in my business and people do remember. Your has positive results with Laurie and you passed it along. How many people will read this and remember Air Canada..

It's a good idea as the kids are the most nervous on flights not knowing what to expect. She made them feel comfortable & welcome.  I'm sure they thought she was great.

I have a client that retired from Air Canada & I'll be sure to mention this to him.

The planes in flight entertainment system was out of order so I thought it would be a long flight for the kids aged 2,7 and 14. But my teenager commented afterwards that this was the best flight she could remember taking. Laurie encourage my daughter to become a flight attendant so they could work together. She wants to become an equine Vet and if she doesn't I will be looking for Laurie!

A Realtor's product is their service.  We don't sell or buy our own homes (at least not for a living) so to survive there is no other way but to provide outstanding customer service.  Those that don't will be doing something else before long.

Realtors usually go the extra mile for their clients.  That's just what we do. It is very obvious when we don't receive good service since we are used to giving it.

It is amazing that a positive attitude and speaking to everyone spreads a positive spirit to all! Her little outreach cost her nothing but paid a lot in terms of kindness to your children and others on the plane.
