Active Rain provides a unique feature the Short URL. It  takes no special learning. The bottom of each post on the bottom left there is a tag. Just click. Check out this reblog by Barbara Hensley over in Dalllas, Tx.

My question is.....Do you use the ActiveRain "Generate Short URL" Link?  I admit that when The Official Rain Blog first announced this new feature back in December, 2010, I was far too busy trying to hold my head above water (rain water!!!) to care much about generating short URLs or even know what the heck it really meant or spend my limited time trying to see what it was all about.  ActiveRain's New URL Shortener announced the new feature.

Renae Bolton posted more about generating short URLs -  30 Days of Marketing Opportunities - Day 1: Short URLs.

BTW - The "Generate Short URL" link is to the left at the very bottom of your post.

First things first- writing 10 posts each week, making at least 10 comments per day, responding to comments on my posts, learning new technology, sending and receiving referrals, entering contests and challenges, attending ActiveRain classes AGAIN, and trying to figure out how to fit all this in with my "real" job of listing and selling properties in my awesome hometown of Rockwall on Lake Ray Hubbard just a beautiful view away from Dallas -  Living & Loving Rockwall County, Texas -  generating short URLs was not on the front burner of my cooker.

It is time for me to do some housekeeping in ActiveRain, and I figure I will start with the one thing with the least amount of time involved - generating those short URLs!  Done!

NOW - I have gone back and hit that "Generate Short URL" button on most of my past posts, and I now click it on all new posts (when I remember - which is mostly!).  A few minutes housekeeping duty takes me to Statistics quickly showing which of my posts do not have the short URL and a quick click can will get it done!  I am not 100% sure of the total benefits, but it takes me a second, and I figure the ActiveRain Gods must know what they are talking about why not?  Hmmmmm....could it have something to do with SEO and the daily serving of Google Juice?   :)

It is Spring cleaning time here in my ActiveRain home - time to tidy up!  I spend a lot of time here and I invite the world to come in - WOW....time to get busy!   One task down...plenty more to go!

Does anyone out there have a "take" on the short URL?   I like anything that has the word "short" (as in short time required!) in it.

By the Way....I am just a short "click" or call away to handle your referrals east of the Dallas skyline!

Frank - good morning and thank you for re-blogging my post.  I always feel honored when someone feels something I have written is worthy of a re-blog.  BTW - I do use the "Generate Short URL" in all (most!) of my posts.  Sometimes I will forget to do this and will go back to do it later if I remember.  LOL

Hello Frank,

Good information to know,  will have to spend some time on this topic to learn it better myself.

I have a take on the short URL. Which is easier to remember and to tell someone:

  •, or

The answer should be quite easy, even if you’re not smarter than a fifth grader.
