It’s always an adventure when traveling, but imagine when there are two people and two seats to consider. The Geeky Girls left last Monday for Inman Real Estate Connect in San Francisco. We got to the airport an hour early and were confused by all the people who were not using self checkin, but waiting to see the attendants at the gate. We soon found out “bad weather” in the Atlanta area had air traffic at a stand still.
After an hour waiting in line, Lisa tweeting with @DeltaAssist and Laurie on the phone with the Delta agent we reached the counter with a LIVE person. We literally stood at that counter for an hour and went through every possible route to SFO that was imaginable. The girl who helped us was incredible and after checking the availability of about 50 different routes she found a flight to DFW (Dallas) that arrived a little after midnight but final arrival to SFO was 8 am the next morning. It seemed too good to be true…..and it was.
We did arrive at DFW a little past midnight. We scoped the entire concourse out to find the safest and best possible place to try and get some sleep. That just was not to be. We met a friendly guy from Washington state and he talked to us all night. We found it’s impossible to sleep when all of the lights are on motion detectors and someone (Lisa) has had too much caffeine.
We were the first people at the gate to get our seats at 5 am. The not so chipper United employee delightfully told us that we were indeed not on that plane. We politely told her that we had tickets but just needed our seat assignments. She then informed us we were scheduled to fly out the next day at 6 am ….. this was NOT good! We had to find a Delta gate attendant to sort out the mess. An hour later we had been booked on a flight arriving at SFO at 9:30 am- happy dance!!
