Loose Lips Sink YOU In Social Media

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Funny CowAt my brokerage firm, the title on the nameplate of the welcoming receptionist is Director Of First Impressions. We are all like that in Social Media too. But do you know that

Loose Lips Sink YOU In Social Media?

We are constantly with our words telling the world who we REALLY are. The inside of us, the REAL US, comes out in our spoken and written words. It just happens. Be careful with the Internet, cause what you write STICKS, like FOREVER. I have been SHOCKED with some angelic friends I know what I read from them or how they present themselves on Members Only blogs and Facebook areas.

We all need to be ourselves and we will have our IDEAL clients and friends of course, but if you want a wider array of friends and especially REFERRAL Associates in your life, don't turn people off to who you are. They are reading about you every day, and making IMPRESSIONS. It is the way the Internet works!!

I could not agree with you more. When there are things I think are not going to serve me well on the internet, I just ignore them.  If I make a comment, I want it to be one that is professional and that I can live with while on this planet and beyond.

Hello Gary-I once had a friend tell me their is an online presence, an offline presence and then there is a private presence. I think the best thing is to be as close as possible with ALL three. While it isn't necessary to share you are in the line at the post office and there is 3 people ahead of you. You should always try to BE REAL to who you are online and off otherwise you come off as a phony.  In other words if you talk the talk you should be walking the walk.  BTW-Quite the pic.

Gary, yes, yes & yes. I don't know what it is about the internet that does not seem to communicate the "permanence" of something put out there. Being ourselves and authentic is important but so is professionalism and remembering boundaries of what and where to share things. Some days it maybe better to just stay away from the internet :)

Hi Gary, oh my- where did you find that pic!??? Why am I laughing?... Poor Cow! It's true Gary about those loose lips, perhaps we should say loose keyboards!   Easy to unintentionally create a bad impression when fingers fly faster than the brain.

Wow - that cow would sure leave a big impression if it sat on you! I think it's time for a diet - grass only for this baby.

We now have a saying, "internet is forever".

Other sage advice come to play as well..."if you have nothing good to say, then say nothing."

Many prospective employers -- and read that to be CLIENTS -- do their research online. I am amazed at how much information is found when one digs deep.

By the way -- I like the title Director of First Impressions. Fabulous idea.
