Record breaking temps: Are they keeping our potential buyers inside?

Real Estate Agent

Here in Oklahoma, we have now had almost 70 days of 100+ degree temperatures now.  It has been hot, dry, and miserable, to say the least.  I've also started to wonder if my buyers have not slowed their pace a bit to avoid getting out and looking in this weather.  Just an observation . . .

I am hoping the cooler fall temperatures that are coming will bring on an abundance of people who are ready to buy houses.  I am thinking of teaching a 1st time home buyer's class in September or early October.  I think it would be informative, especially to many of the families who are tossing away so much more money on rent than they would be on a mortgage.  With interest rates that are super low, now is the time to see what it takes to own a home.

So, make the most of these hot temperatures and do your research.  I'll be glad to help you when you're ready to brave the heat!

Here in the Phoenix, Arizona area we try to schedule showings in the mornings.  Even though we are more used to the heat, it still takes a lot out of us. Sometimes after showing a few homes in this heat (110+ degrees) I feel like I've just come out of a sauna!
