Installing Art For That WOW! Factor
Last week, I gave some tips on how to hang art. This is a real-life example. This wonderful young family moved into their new home, and Nestings helped them with the overall interior decoration. We wanted to add drama and tell a story about the family in this beautifully detailed foyer.
They have a beautiful series of over-sized photos of their children. The portraits were taken at the beach, and are are truly lovely. We decided to use them as artwork in the two-story foyer and take advantage of the vertical space. Smaller, companion photos were placed on the far wall of the upstairs hall, visible from below.

(I know, I know...you just saw this photo on a previous post, but it has two stories to tell!)
Deciding where to begin and end series like these can depend on several factors, such as the architecture, size of the walls vs. picture sizes, and - as in this case - where "little fingers" can reach.
While the photos upstairs are centered on the visible part of that wall, additional pieces can easily be added, while maintaining the same height and distance between them.
With the art as the inspiration, and its dramatic placement, we have that WOW! factor the homeowners wanted. This space is a delight to enter, and sets a warm, welcoming feeling for the home.
