A local history buff and fan of open spaces, I have walked hundreds of miles in local woods, and kayaked or canoed on rivers and tributaries from Westport to Dighton and Swansea, and most in between. The areas salt water beaches and ponds are the jewels of the South Coast. Ethnic, religious and art festivals abound throughout the warm seasons, and the culture of the area is evident in some of the best restaurants in the country.
