Silverton Business Group

The group meets every Wednesday morning from 8 am to 9 am at Silverton Inn & Suites. Nicky from the Silverton Inn & Suites is the leader for the month of August. Program presenters are from Bluebird Montessori.

August Forum Lunch
The August Forum Lunch is set for Friday, August 12 from 11:45 am until 1:00 pm in the conference room above the Birth Center at Silverton Hospital. Topic is the Angel of Hope Program. Cost is $10 for lunch. Be sure to RSVP to the Chamber, 503-873-5615 or by email by Wednesday, August 10. It is very important that we have a count for the hospital prior to Friday

Apple Tree School Supply Drive
Apple Tree kids are once again collecting school supplies for local students. A complete list of needed supplies will be in the Chamber’s newsletter for August. Look for collection boxes throughout Silverton (including at the Chamber office) along with signs bearing apples you can “pick” to fill specific supply needs. Cash donations are greatly appreciated and are used to purchase additional supplies. The program is coordinated through Silverton Together, 503-873-0405.

Gallon House Bridge
The Gallon House Bridge is closed for repairs until September 23.

Junior Gardener's Club at The Oregon Garden 
Kids will get moving during zumba with Silverton Fitness on Aug. 9th, learn to make music with ordinary objects on Aug. 13th, and go on a Teddy Bear Picnic on Aug. 16th. All activities are for children ages 5 to 10, and take place in the Children's Garden, at The Oregon Garden, at 10am. Vitis Ridge
August 13 & 14 - Second Weekend Wine Tastings from 12-5. Get behind the scenes at Vitis Ridge and join us to Taste Amongst the Barrels. In case you missed it last month we're doing it again. To access "Taste Amongst the Barrels" use a separate entrance to access the Barrel Room. Look for signs directing toward the "side door" located in the SE parking lot, near 2nd St. If you park in the main lot follow the signs to the far end of the building on 2nd Street. Access the building using the small side door. Tasting hours are 12-5

Friends of the Silver Falls Library Book Sale

August 19 and 20 - Book Sale at the Silver Falls Library Friday 10 am – 6 pm, Saturday 10 am – 5 pm. Fill a bag Saturday 2 pm - 5 pm $2/BAG

Silverton Fine Arts Festival
Saturday & Sunday, August 20 & 21 – Juried show and sale, hands-on art activities, entertainment, food court, wine court, wine & beer garden all within Silverton’s Coolidge McClaine Park. 

Artist & food booths open 10 am - 7 pm on Saturday & 10 am - 6 pm on Sunday. 
Entertainment schedule: Saturday 11:30 am – 8:30 pm and Sunday 11:30 am – 6:00 pm. 
Complementary shuttle service and free parking is available at Robert Frost School. 301 Westfield St. and at the Oregon Garden 879 W. Main St. Festival admission is FREE.

Garden University at The Oregon Garden:
Learn about the Charms & Challenges of Bible Plant Research. Lytton John Musselman will give his presentation at The Oregon Garden during Garden University, at 1 p.m. on August 20th. Tickets are $15, free for members, and include Garden admission. 

Silver Falls Star Party
Saturday, August 27 9 pm until midnight at Silver Falls State Park’s Old Ranch. Join park staff and astronomy club members for a night of stargazing. Learn about constellations, nebulas, and other heavenly sights. View them through many different sizes and styles of telescopes. The event is sponsored by Night Sky 45 Astronomy Club, Silver Falls State Park, and Friends of Silver Falls. Cost is $5 per vehicle day use fee, otherwise there is no charge. Stop & Smell the Roadsters
Stop and Smell the Roadsters, during an outdoor car show at The Oregon Garden. Cars will be "planted" throughout the Garden on Sunday August 28th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, or to sign up to show your car, visit

The Purl District
A Call to Artists! The Purl District will be hosting its First Annual Artists' Show and Sale. Artists (knitters/crocheters) are invited to drop off their pieces for sale on October 15th, to be on display through the Christmas season. Commission is 70%/30%. *Required: All pieces must be made from yarn purchased at The Purl District.

The Purl District's Celia Stapleton and Lunaria's Genie Stewart have been accepted into the Art-To-Wear Fashion Week show in Fort Collins, Colorado in September. Congratulations Girls!

Red Cross Babysitter Training

The Babysitter's Training course has a unique interactive, educational format that teaches youth ages 11 - 14 years of age activities such as identifying safety problems around the house and yard and selecting age-appropriate toys and games for children in their care. AARP Driver Safety Program-2-Day Class
August 29 & 30 / 1-5pm / Silverton Hospital Room / $12 for AARP members, $14 for non-members
This 2-day defensive driving course, designed for people 55 and older, refreshes your driving skills and makes you eligible for a reduction on your auto insurance. Attendance is required both days. Pre-register by calling 503-873-1785.
