Cream Rises to the Top

I recently underwent major surgery and found my recovery to be a bit longer than anticipated. Upon returning to my office after 6 weeks, I was somewhat dismayed by the "VACANCY" sign flashing behind the reception area. Mind you, I am speaking figuratively, not literally. Nonetheless, the writing was on the wall. Fair-weather agents had flown the coup in search of 'greener wallets'. Don't get me wrong. I totally respect one's need to earn a living to support his/her lifestyle. It's just that I can't help but think about those men and women we as REALTORS represent in what must be the biggest transactions in their lives. How can it be so easy to just walk away from the very clients we remind monthly (if not more frequently) about how we are there for them whenever they need us. We are professionals in our field. We should think very seriously about the image we worked so diligently to create before packing up our belongings and "moving on". I know times are very tough for many of us. But let this be a letter of encouragement to those who feel ill at ease about our current situation. Sure, things aren't falling into our laps as in recent years. But we must remember that we thrive and are at our best when we EARN our living. The satisfaction of knowing we are doing everything we can to be the best in our field is empowering. We can't be the best if we are vacant. HANG IN THERE!

I took a couple weeks from heading into the "Office"  ( I have a Home Office that I do 95% of my work from) and low and behold when I went in there it was full.  Apparently, several agents had left other brokers and came to the one I work with.  Not only will this market weed out the "Cherry Pickers" but it will also weed out some broker's broken business models.

We have acutally seen a surge of activity in our office.  We have several new agents and the other ones are pretty active as well.  I dis go into anouther office in my area a few weeks ago to hand carry an offer and was somewhat shocked when the only person I saw was the receptionist.  There were over 25 empty desks resting behind her.
