Leaskdale - EMILY - A Musical presented by Mauds Thespians
The Costomes are ready the participants have been practising Now it's time to Present Emily, written by Richard Ouzounian (the Toronto Stars theatre critic) for the 1999 Charlottetown Festival will be presented in the church, where Lucy Maud Montgommery's husband was the pastor, 100 years after their arrival in Leaskdale in 1911. The Church is Located across the road from the Manse, now a National Historical Site where the book was written. With music ranging from ballads to shoftshoe to choral numbers it follows the journey through life of the lead character "Emily" as she struggles to become a writer. The audience will be in the centre of the action as the production will take place all around them. |

" The purpose of the Society is to bring together people who share an interest in the heritage of Lucy Maud Montgomery, particularly as it relates to her life in Leaskdale."
The Society owns the Historic Leaskdale Church (the former St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church where Ewan Macdonald was the minister from 1910 to 1926) and operates the Leaskdale Manse National Historical Site, a museum which is open to the public. Both are used to used to showcase the life of Montgomery in Leaskdale.
