11 Mile and Spinney Lakes

11 Mile and Spinney Lakes are part of the Colorado State Park system. Today friends and I went up for the day. Despite the wind we had a great time. But take my advice pack your fishing gear and a cooler, wind breakers and coats. Camera definitely recommended. This is the stuff Colorado is made of.

Elevation - 8600 feet above sea level

Fish - Rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout, kokanee salmon, northern pike and carp

Camping - year around for the brave

Location - South Park Colorado between highways 24 and 9. Nearest town is Lake George 1 mile\ Approx ½ hour - 45 minutes from Colorado Springs & Canon City.

Size - 3400 acre feet with white caps in the wind.

Just the wind. We tried and tried but the wind was an impossible force. No hiding the fact a front was coming in. And there is always next time!

When I saw the clouds & coats I thought that may have been today, as I missed the word "today" the first time I read it through.  What a difference a few hours makes in Colorado.

Sign me up, Dena.  That lake is georgous!  What a view, even with the clouds.  I'm wondering if you are a closet fly fisherwoman.

Hi Dena,  the pictures turned out great.  I just don't understand why anyone needed a jacket.  I was comfortable in my t-shirt and I'm just arrived from Florida.  The scenery and abundance of wildlife makes me want to stay forever.  Why didn't I move here 20 years ago?

Dave
