Wellington FL: Don't miss the Back to School Tax Free Weekend!

Wellington FL Back to SchoolMark your calendar because this coming weekend, August 12th-14th, is the "Back to School Sales Tax Holiday"!  There will be zero sales tax collected on select items like certain; clothing, footwear and school supplies.

On top of the tax exemption a lot of the local stores throughout Wellington will be having some phenomenal sales.  While I don't like shopping or crowds very much I will definitely be doing some "back to school" shopping with my boys this weekend.

For a list of what will be exempt check out the List of Tax Exempt & Taxable Items
and almost all of the stores will have the School Supply List for all Wellington FL

I think this is a great idea but Illinois will not be doing it this year due to budget restraints!  Boooo, hisss.

Absolutely a good idea with this!  Why should parents pay taxes on school supplies?  (We're spoiled in Oregon, we don't have sales tax here).

I’ve been reading in lots of ActiveRain blogs about tax free weeks and weekends. I had never heard of such a thing before joining ActiveRain. We sure don’t have them out here. Occasionally a retail store will have a tax-free day when they pay the taxes for you but that’s about it.

Wish Clark County, NV would follow Wellington, FL footsteps with a tax free holiday!  Hmmm wonder if it would be worth flying out there for a shopping spree, LOL!

Michelle - we had our tax free weekend last week, and it's a busy day at the mall. I personally avoid it, and a lot of others do also. Of course here in Tennessee where we have a 9 percent sales tax rate, it's a pretty big deal to some people, especially the politicians who want to spend those tax dollars. I think it's a great idea.
