A wonderful day

Today I gathered my wife and children together and we went to the pumpkin patch. We were going to go south to Baltimore to a farm we have gone to several times before but we got off to a late start this afternoon. So we decided to try Swamp Fox Farms. Swamp Fox is a nice little farm that sits at the foot of the campus of Susquehannock High School on Country Club Road. What a great time. We started out by taking some photographs of the kids next to the barn with a large assortment of mums, pumpkins and straw bails. We then climbed on a wagon that took us on a hay ride up through the fields until we got to a huge field that was just covered with pumpkins that we could pick on our own. Next to the pumpkin patch was a great corn maze that was fun for the 2 six year olds, our two year old, and mom and dad. Just up the hill was a field of dried corn stalks, the stalks were a pick your own pop corn field. The kids loved going from stalk to stalk picking pop corn and it gave them the chance to see that not all produce comes in a plastic bag. We each picked a pumpkin and headed back to the barn to weigh in. My wife took the kids to the petting zoo that had pigs, a calf, some rabbits, and more fun animals they could pet. I love supporting local businesses, they were once the heartbeat of every small town. I hope that you and your family will be able to enjoy Swamp Fox before the end of the season.

Check back next month to learn about a Glen Rock PA Christmas tradition that has continued for nearly 160 years, thats right, the world famous Glen Rock Carolers.

Also don't forget to check out the Glen Rock Fire Departments web site, www.grfd.orgto find out about the annual Holiday Train Garden that is located in the large area behind the Glen Rock Library. The train garden is a great experience for children of any age and a great way to support your community.
