“Practicing Abundance”
I was enjoying a beautiful day at the beach last weekend, the sun was warm the ocean breeze refreshing and I needed a day to recharge myself and appreciate the splendors of summer.
The tide, much like the economy, was low.
A woman walking along the edge of the water was picking up shells and stones from the beach when I noticed that her hands were so full that as she picked up a new shell she would drop one or two others that she had picked up earlier.
I brought an empty cup to her so she could hold more of her treasure and I commented that she was dropping more than she was picking up. She replied…
“I am practicing abundance.” …
Such a simple joyful comment; it made me stop a moment to consider the life\business metaphor that I was experiencing right there on the beach…
Yes the tide was low but it revealed a bounty of treasure and opportunity to gather; perfect shells of all sizes and beautifully polished stones of various colors and grains. There were so many to pick and choose, all one had to do was reach out and take some.
I got to thinking about how fortunate I have been and that I should appreciate the abundance already in my life. I also began to recognize the abundance of business opportunity that surrounds me every day… I just have to remember to reach out and engage in the act of practicing abundance.
