Now I'm Catching On...

question on keyboardI'm so excited.  I am finally catching on to some of the idiosyncrasies of the websites and how to make my blogs look a little less lame.

It all started this morning when I decided to enter one of AR's Contests.  I thought I should add an image to my blog to make it look a bit more sophisticated.  Everyone else has really great looking blogs - wah, wah, wah!  So, I decided to click on the framed tree icon in the edit bar.  When I clicked on it, the insert image box popped up but was non-responsive.  I clicked and clicked on everything in the little box but noting worked.

I decided there must be a better way.  Maybe someone in AR has blogged about this....hmmmm, let me see.  Yes, someone has.  Mary Nack has a great explanation with pictures and everything on how to insert an image.  After reading through her blog though, I realized that she's saying to do exactly what I've already done but for some reason, it doesn't work on my blog thing!  So, I go back to my blog and try again.  Nothing.  The box just sits there taunting me.  Try me, try me.  Ha ha ha.

rock paper scissors

Beam!  A light goes off!  What if I tried AR through firefox?  Will that work?  Can I insert an image if I'm using firefox instead of Internet explorer?  YES!!! Tah Dah.The old girl has some brain power left.  I don't understand why it works with one "thingy" and not the other but, it does.

So, if there's anyone left out there that doesn't know how to insert an image into their AR blog, use firefox to get on the Internet, click on the framed tree icon, click on the browse box to the right of the elongated URL box, find the image on your computer, upload, fill in the image description, click on the "appearance" tab, choose your alignment, change dimensions to fit the space, click insert and Voila!  You now have images in your blog!!!

Now, if I could only figure out how to get the verbiage to wrap around the rock, paper scissors....

Nice detective work! I think some things got a little funky when IE upgraded a while back. I couldn't post comments at all and had to switch to Firefox. I believe at least some of it is straightened out now (since I am typing this in IE, lol). But maybe there are still glitches. I don't mind using Firefox, but it isn't the default when I click on a link in my email (e.g. the Daily Drop), so still use IE a fair amount. P.S. One more tip, if you click on the second tab (appearance? I think?) when your picture is uploaded, you can add some space to separate it from the text, which looks a bit tidier. It is labeled "vertical space" and "horizontal space". Plus some other stuff, like changing the alignment. Have fun experimenting!

Oh Linda, thank you so much!  I tried the horizontal space & yes, it looks much tidier!
