Don't Leave Home Without ...

August is probably the most popular month to take off, travel, see the sights, get outta town. in short, leave home.

Before I go away there's one thing that I always do - turn off the water! Water leaks and flooding while away can lead to huge repair bills; ripping out  soaked carpet, removing drywall, restoration, etc. Why take that chance when it's so easy to prevent?

If possible, turn off water main. If that's not possible, turn off water to water heater, washing machine, toilets, garden hoses, etc. And if you have a friend or relative to check with a quick walk-thru every few days, that's fantastic.

Have a great trip!

My plumber told me this years ago....showed me where the water main is and how to turn it off.  Peace of mind when you are on vacation.....?  Priceless.

Bruce, good advice. There's nothing worse than a water leak on the top floor of your home that leaks for days.
