The Never Ending Need for School Suppies in Birmingham Area Schools

The dreaded school supply list can wreck havoc on the purse strings even for parents and grandparents that are financially stable.  But what about the parents and kids that are less fortunate.  I've heard parents say that they've racked up as much as $400 in schools supplies for just one child.

I don't have any children in school, but I know that their is always a need for school supplies, so I'd decided to donate school supplies where needed.

I know that schools that are deemed to be Title 1 schools always has a need for any additional resources that they can get, but I've had a hard time finding out which schools are Title 1 in our area.  Last year I donated to the YMCA's Building Young Professionals program which has a program for inner city youth. I spoke to this group on last year about living their lives by design.  It was pretty cool and I know they use the school supplies.

So even if you don't have kids, think about donating school supplies to kids that need them either directly through the schools, via a charity or an organization such as your local YMCA or YWCA.

I'm banking that I'll have the names of at least some Title 1 Schools soon.

$400.00 seems a little high for school supplies.  Our church runs a back pack give away each fall.  Our goal this year is 500.
