Palm Beach County School Bus Information- Let's Get Off to a Good Start!

School Buses will soon hit the streets of Palm Beach County as the 2011 school year begins on August 22.    If you're not sure whether your child will qualify for bus pick up or need information on the various routes you can find that at the Palm Beach District Transportation site.

School busAt this site you can go to BUS ROUTES and scroll to find the name of your child's school.  And, according to the Florida Statutes and the State Board of Education Rule, students must live 2 miles or more away from the school to be eligible for transportation.  There are exceptions so please contact the Transportation Department for more information.

Here are Some Tips for Parents:

                     1. Make sure your child arrives at least 5 minutes before pick up
                     2. Go over safety tips with your children.
                     3. Make sure they know the school bus number and route.
                     4. Instruct your children on the importance of wearing their seat belt ..even in the bus!

And, for more information call the Palm Beach County District Transportation Department:

PBC Transportation Numbers

Please... don't forget to observe School Zones and watch out for our children!

I dread seeing those Yellow Busses as much as I hate the words Summer Finale.

I'm sure there are many who will appreciate the good info for those who are running off to school.

Gabe- no kidding.  I remember the first day my little niece took the school bus she ended up on the wrong one.  She actually gave the driver directions to her house.

BARFF- SEO and AR challenge.. and it's fun.  Well.... I'm not crazy about the increased traffic but that's life!

Laura- hey ...see, I didn't trap you here did I???  Just kidding!

Mike- I think the hardest thing is for drivers to remember the school zones.  We're so used to buzzing through them for a few months.

Bruce- Thank you...  I didn't want to mention to make sure everyone gets OFF the bus.  We had a tragedy last year when a little daycare child was left in the back of the bus.

Marc- I just read that they had a practice day yesterday for the drivers and their routes.  Everyone has to get ready!

Patricia- Many thanks... Yes, it's not just the parents who have to adjust to the kids being back in school.  I remember the big change in traffic patterns when I lived in Houston.

Debb- thanks... didn't see the "F" coming on this one but glad to have it.  Have a great weekend.

Michael- I think some schools actually started this week.  I can remember when I was in school, we actually got 3 whole months off!

Joshua- you wouldn't know it in the south with the high temps, but yes, school's ready to start.

Eileen- glad you liked it.  You have to add some color or it would be pretty dry!

Michelle- I clicked on one of the routes and they go in detail for the parent.

Christine- If I don't time it right I've been caught in a traffic mess for the school near my neighborhood.  I've been known to wind through to the other entrances to avoid it!

Boy, that school bus will be rumbling by here before we know it.  I should get a move on with the fall chores.

My 4 year old granddaughter LOVES riding on school buses (which we got to do when they were shuttling people to the county fair) - she thinks she should start school right away so she can ride the bus!  :)

You've really put together a great resource for families in your area though - nice job!!

Janice- thanks!  It was fun looking up the information on this.

Ron- Next thing you know, we'll be carving pumpkins.

Nancy- that is so cute.  I guess so many of our kids don't have any experience riding on a bus.  Just like when I was growing up, we wanted to to take a train ride!

Susan- there's an AR challenge going on which is why there are so many of these posts.  Although.. it's a good idea to do.  Can you imagine the drivers getting mentally geared up to handle all the kids!

Lee & Carol- summers seem to get shorter and shorter each year.  This area is different from growing up in Houston.  Here the whole county is a school district.

Sharon- Thank you!! Wait til Jack and Zack start!  My friend has sent us "first day of school" pics since they started school.  I love looking back over them.

Kathy, safety instructions are so important especially when school first starts. The kids are excited to see their friends again and forget to be cautious.
