We help executors and trustees close down and clean out estate properties. What can we do for you?
People, especially potential clients, ask me: What exactly do you do? Well, the short answer is: We help executors and trustees deal with closing down and cleaning out an estate property, We also assist care givers and family members who are dealing with seniors who are downsizing from their current home or moving to an assisted living situation. In these cases there is a need to prepare the home and property to be sold.
What exactly does that mean? As I have said in the past: No two client situations are the same. We are not a firm that does only "X", so call us when you need a reliable team to do "X" for you. That is not the nature of the needs of our clients. The "needs to be done" list in preparing a home for sale can be huge. Add to this, the property may not be the clients primary residence. This can add logistic, information, time and geographic constraints to the mix. Our clients simply cannot be there as often as necessary to get the job done in a timely, organized fashion. This is where we add value. We will be there when needed. We will find out what is needed. We will implement and oversee all that needs to be done. What we do is solve the problems by finding solutions to whatever needs arise.
A broad service description? Indeed it is. We created Turning Point Estate Services after experiencing first hand, the complications that can arise in estate settlement and estate dissolution. We have been through this process, and know to expect each situation may come with a "twist" or two. We have fostered relationships with a vast number of service providers that we can consult with and bring in, when the need for their expertise presents itself. They can be: locksmiths, storage facilities, auction houses, eBay sellers, fine art and antique appraisers, movers, small move specialists, Realtors, home stagers, home inspectors, painters, carpenters, flooring specialists, plumbers, electricians, roofers, landscapers, arborist's, snow removers, etc...etc... You get the idea. We know a lot of professionals and craftspeople. In addition to this, we have developed a secure, on-line personal property inventory management utility. With this feature, clients can simply point and click on property items to let us know whether to pack and ship, sell or donate specific items. Clients may need all of these services or they may want us to only clear out, sell or donate the contents of the home. We take care of as much (or as little) as the client requires.

We have done some of these work, too. We have a Senior Transition Realtor on staff.
It helps to make that person very empathetic when the client is moving to assisted living or a nursing home.
Don, That is a rare case. Most agencies do not have this kind of transition assistance. I am hoping that they will call on my company.
You have such a unique service niche. Hope your month and third quarter are going great!
What a great list of services you offer. I'm sure in such a difficult time, having someone to help with handling the estate is of great value! It's hard enough dealing with the emotional aspects of the job, never mind the physical and legal!
Peter - Thanks so much for the great link and ... what a great post about how you do what you do! You have a great list of vendors, and sometime we should get together to compare our lists.... I have some great ones, and some holes here and there I would love to fill with good folks.
Dagny, One of the advantages of having the articles appear in the local papers is getting the local service guys calling and taking ME out for coffee. Now if a few more potential clients would call....
Russel, Dreary rainy Sunday here. GREAT for the tomatoes and the eggplant. I'll take it.
Considering what all is involved in that process, I'm surprised there are not more companies like yours. I remember what my mom went through when my dad died, which makes me hope that if mom dies before me, that my older brother is executor.
Jim, I KNOW !!!. We created this firm after finding out the hard way that there were scant few doing this. You would thing the big Real Estate firms would establish departments dedicated to handle this. They don't want to touch it.
Peter - Since this is your most recent post, and you have such a unique business, I have a suggestion for you. Create a 60-second speech or commercial, write that down, beautiful it, and make it your blog signature. Then you can do lots of localism posts and under each of those you'll have your signature, which is your 60-second commercial. I bet it will work wonders for you.
Jim told me about the comment he left you. I think it's a great idea. I think there's even a localism contest for the month of September.
Peter - You have some very powerful friends there in Russell and Jim. Take their advice and run with it! Let's get together and share ideas again!
