Thanks for going "Above and Beyond" - Oh wait, I didn't.
When the doorbell rang on Wednesday evening, it brought with it an unexpected surprise. A flower delivery! As I carried the flowers inside, my mind raced with the "who and the why." It wasn't an anniversary or a birthday, and my husband didn't have anything to apologize for - or did he?
It turns out - no, he didn't. And, when I opened the attached card, it read, "Thanks for going "Above and Beyond," it meant so very much to us," signed by my clients. We had recently closed on the sale of their home. I called immediately to thank them, and these are the reasons they gave for sending the flowers.
You sold our house so quickly, from list to close, in 75 days.
The reason? It was priced perfectly and the marketing efforts were focused on the appropriate demographics using a variety of resources.
You handled all the details - all we had to do was sign papers.
The reason? That's my job.
You always kept us in the loop.
The reason? You deserve to know what's going on, even if nothing is going on...
(I call my listing clients at least once a week with a status report.)
You treated us with great kindness and respect.
The reason? You deserve to be treated in that manner.
You explained things so clearly.
The reason? I do this for a living.
You were fun to be around.
The reason? I truly enjoy helping people and love what I do.

The bottom line - I did not go "Above and Beyond," for these clients - I just did my job. It was my great pleasure to work for them and it warms my heart that they are so pleased with my service. You can be sure that I smile every time I look at that beautiful bouquet of flowers. It's a great reminder as to why I "do my job."
