A Piece of My Mind | Trials and Tribulations

By
Real Estate Agent with Liberty Homes RS-#62825

Every once in awhile it’s nice to check in to ActiveRain and let our members know what we’ve been up to. Bob Stewart gave me the idea with his Random Thoughts: Light Sabers, Facebook Lists and Geeky Girls to express personal thoughts through my writing.

I suppose it’s a different aspect to my usual writing about one topic but I’ll be able to cram a bunch into one post lol.

ActiveRain has been my ‘savior’ of sorts throughout these past few years. I have learned, I have grown and I’ve made oh so many friends. Though I’ve met many in real life there are a many more that I long to meet!

Years and over 800,000 points later as well as 1,260 posts written....

 I remain loyal to ActiveRain.

Personal Tribulations have kept me from writing as much on ActiveRain. I will be a first time grandmother in a few short weeks (we think earlier) when baby Brayden peeks out into the world to a loving family awaiting his arrival with outstretched arms.  I will patiently wait my turn to cradle him in my arms and cry with the joy that my daughter will experience with her first born.

Real Estate.  I’ve switched gears throughout the last year and though I am still doing a few sales I am also working full time in Property Management and Administration for Century 21 Liberty Homes.  It just seemed like the most sensible thing to do when sales were down and given an offer I couldn’t refuse. J  A full life in the business to say the least and still working to excel in achievement receiving my CRS designation in 2011 and being an Aloha Aina Award Nominee for the past two years.

I thank Bob Stewart, his mom Gail, Christa and his whole family for allowing me (and will continue to allow me) to be Gramma Sally in Hawaii to his son Kelan.  At a time when we all thought that my daughter would not be able to conceive I was able to be a Gramma to Kelan and experience some of the joys a Gramma wishes to experience.  I WILL meet them one day and will keep Kelan close to my heart as I will Brayden. A driving force in ActiveRain...Bob has been a constant support for me throughout my time here. With a hands on approach with the members of ActiveRain, Bob has definitely been one of the biggest assets to this network.

My mom is going to be 84 and finally ‘retired’ last year. She is moving slower but still a real sharp cookie in mind and spirit. She’s given us a couple of scares with getting a bite from one of the cats which got infected. Then the antibiotics were toxic and she got hives all over her body, fever and so forth so we took her to the hospital. Luckily she’s better now. My kids were on their way to give the cats away this morning and though mom agreed to give up ‘her favorite’ too she cried and cried on the phone (I am just sitting here with tear stained eyes) and they turned around and brought Sheba home.  I have not heard my mom cry but a few times in my life and hearing her on the phone tore at my heart. I so love my mom.

Time Restraints? Between a full time job, my grandson on the way and spending more time with my mom and family I’d say my life is full. I presume when my daughter and her family leave for North Carolina shortly after the baby is born (another heartbreak will ensue) my mom will still have my son there but I will make it a point to spend more time with her as well.

I do make it a point to stop by every day here on ActiveRain and on Facebook to catch up with all my friends and family although I promised myself when things cool down a bit I will dedicate more time to my business and socializing more with all of you.

Always mindful of a balanced life between business, family, friends...

 and me time....

A Hui Hou (until we meet again)!

Hey Deb..yeah...it's been a doozy of a past couple months. The idea of rambling and giving you all a 'piece of my mind' seemed like the best way to get motivated. With so much on my mind, my plate and so forth I needed that! I'll be rambling as soon as Brayden gets here.  I'm just trying to enjoy the time with my daughter and her pregnancy before they leave. In that respect, I'm heartbroken just thinking about them leaving soon too.....and not getting to know my grandson as I'd like ...in those first months growing up :)  I guess we'll do the skype thing :)

HUGS right back at ya!

Woo Hoo,

That was very sweet post and proves that yes you can write about more than one thing in a post  and do it well. LOL Looks like your new focus on property management gave you a lift at just the right time. Glad everything sounds like it is good in your life and that you are soon to be a Grandma to boot. I am sure that special day can't get here soon enough and I am sure your daughter feels the same way x 10. Stay smiling ! Business feels a bit slower this past couple weeks but that usually suggests that things are about to pop again. Best to all!

Hugs,
William

Sally, that's quote a variety of thoughts, but the best one will be the arrival of your first grandson. Bob does do good things by his presence, and even though we don't know what this platform would be like without him, we sure don't want to find out any time soon

Sally,

Always glad to read your blogs and positive thoughts which have at times lifted me up over the years.  One of the many reasons that I remain loyal to Active Rain and always grateful for everything this wonderful community has meant for me.  Congratulations on being a Gramma and I am sure you will be a wonderful Grandma to that lucky little baby.  Bob is a special part of this community.

Sounds like you made a great choice in moving to management.  I mean who doesn't need a rental in Paradise!

Oh and if your daughter needs anything real estate or not related you have many friends here in North Carolina!

Sally, congratulations in advance on that first granchild.  How exciting and that first one is always an extra special experience..  I know some of the pain you will experience when they move.  Three weeks after my first  grandchild was born, my daughter and her family relocated out of the country and for the next 6 years I had to enjoy them from afar (and that was before skyping was common) except for sporadic visits.  When they moved back to the New York area I was overjoyed.  As for your Mom, your lucky to have your priorities set right.  Enjoy her while you can.
Keep the ramblings coming.  I enjoyed reading them.

Hi Sally, I can't wait to read the baby is born blog! I think we are all in the same boat. Balancing our lives between work and personal time. It can be a challenge.

Sally, enjoy this time with your daughter, before the baby arrives. It is funny how even though the baby isn't here yet it seems that there is so much to do, even if it is sitting with your daughter waiting! A very special time indeed. I can hardly wait!!!!

I also have been pulled in so many directions, and business is heating up so much that my posts are way down. I need to get back into the groove, and soon. Carve out a bit of time again each day.

Enjoy!!!!

PS, my job in the delivery room, apart from crying and being there for my daughter, was to take a picture of the baby and post it to Facebook. I had my camera and my phone, snapping away through the tears of pure joy! And I passed with flying colors... LOL.

Hey William!  Yeah...it's been quite the experience watching my grandson grow and with full time work to keep me occupied I am so tired at the end of the day and still have to keep going to take care of sales.  It's been a long road the past few months... I so miss our talks and will surely call when Brayden peeks out into the world!

Ed....I am sooo excited!  I will share and get back up and running after baby is born.  I so appreciate your thoughts on Bob too. It would not be the same....

Hey Larry...little does one realize that property management is one of the steady incomes of a small company when it's slow for agents. I'm surely there for them and it has paid off with a smooth running division for the rentals. :)  I so appreciate your comments and will get my behind in gear to at least spend a bit of time here this morning before heading out to mom's house.

Lora:  I so appreciate your thoughts!  It will be about 2-3 weeks after baby is born (depending on if he arrives early or late :) so I am fortunate to read that I am not going to be the only one who will be heartbroken when they leave.  The only thing is that it may get me over the Pacific to visit!

Thanks Elyse and Laura!

Jackie: Oh...the challenges! One thing I've learned is it slowed me down and got me out of the house more. I surely became addicted to the blogging and social networking and it sure takes a lot of time to get around to just a few while taking care of my website too!  I will have a grand baby blog indeed!

Andrea:  Oh....I better go look...I missed yours!  I will forever remember this special moment in time....to share with all of you my family and their joy when Brayden pops out into the world!

Sally, it is always like sitting down with you and chat when I read your blogs.  I can truly feel the real you through your writings.  I noticed quite a few of us, including myself have slowed down in blogging, which usually is because we have been so busy, I say it is good.  Blogging is important to our business and keep the friendship going here on Active Rain, but for me going home after 7 pm, take care of my family, I am pooped.  I tried to squeeze time in blogging, but there were days I just couldn't do it.

Can't wait to see your new grand baby soon!
