Writing Notes!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Fran Rokicki Realty, LLC

My Coach is a huge advocate of writing notes.  You can write them to your children, spouse, lover, family, neighbor, friends, your business associates and clients.  The amazing part of a handwritten note is that, it is always read.  Most times, it is valued so much, that it is kept.  Receiving notes, is also, amazing.  Having received them from all of the above suggestions, I can say that it is a wonderful way to acknowledge someone in your life.

A handwritten note, only takes minutes.  You don't have to write much, to make it worthy Short and sweet works, just fine. It can be to acknowledge a meeting, a special day, a thank you, a welcome or just simply, how are you, today.  It is very inexpensive, yet holds so much value.  It takes your time, which is the special gift that you are taking, to give to someone.

                                                                                          Buffini Handwritten Notes

Hoping that you experience the value of a handwritten note.  Whether you are the sender or the receiver, you will feel much better, after writing and/or reading your note.  My Coaching Company, provides me with lovely notes, every month.  The inside is blank, but, the cover always has a good phrase to remember.  This note card says, The Years Teach Much Which the Days Never Know, by Ralph Waldo Emerson.  How very true this is.  With every year that passes, this makes more sense to me.

Here are a few sample ideas of what to write:

It was good to see you, today!

                  I appreciate your input.

Thank you for a lovely day!

Loved the outing in the kayak!

                  Hope you are well.

Looking forward to seeing you, soon.

Talking with you, made my day.

                  Love your ideas, thank you.

                  Let's catch up, soon.

                  I am proud of you!

                  Top O'the Mornin to ya!

You get the idea.  Short one line statements that show your appreciation and care for the recipient of the note.  Most times, you will receive one back:)  Special touches to enlighten your day. I will share with you that your children will amaze you with their responses.

Good morning Frances,

Great blog, I agree and love doing the hand-written note.  Social Media is great, but it can be too detached.

Thanks for sharing, have a lovely Sunday!

Eric, Thank you.  People do need that connection.  Face to face is the best, but, the handwritten note is like a pre-face meeting:)  Email or a card with the message imprinted, cannot compare with the value that is felt.  It takes your time and that is the most value that you can give to someone.

Frances,  You are absolutely right.  Even a hand written quick note on a printed invitation or holiday card is much more personal and appreciated.  Often without that, it feels like a mass marketing piece of work and you are one of many.  Old etiquette still makes a huge difference.

I write handwritten notes to every person who visits an open house that I am hosting--still waiting to get a lead this way!

Kathleen, I use the printed cards for people that I don't know well.  I will add a hello or quick phrase to them.  However, to those that I value the most, my closet, dearest acquaintances and my A+ people, I send my handwritten notes to.  I have found that many years later, they have saved those cards from me and told me that they read them, several times.  So worth it!

Mary, And, you will!  That is something that I practice, as well.  I leave one for the Seller's, so that, when they arrive home, it is waiting for them on the kitchen table.  It's good to thank them for the use of their home, for a few hours, on a Sunday:)

Handwritten notes are so powerful.  I try to write as many as I can.  I'm always asking to have more note cards ordered in the office!

George, It would be good for you to do, with your clients and underwriters:)  Maybe, even your Realtor friends:)

Jon, Join Buffini and Company!  They send you fifty every month with your mailers!

Nancy, Thank you:)  The reasons don't have to be earth moving, but, they will move someone who receives that special note:)
