Another day in the life of a Realtor...

Another day in the life of crazy Michigan weather. October 21st and the temperature has gotten to 78 degrees!! Insane and wonderful... I hope we aren't in for it for the winter by a sudden and harsh change.

So there I am in my driveway preparing for the Dunham Lake Annual Haunted Trail. The day was extraordinary. My husband and I love Halloween and when we moved into this neighborhood 13 years ago, we got onto the board and decided to pull together this haunted trail idea. The area we live in is a jewel nestled and spread between  Northern Oakland county just on the edge of Livingston county. Our draw, our pull, our muse, is the lake. Dunham is a 110 acre,  natural, spring-fed, non motor kettle lake, that goes to depths of 120 feet. We have 3 parks to choose from. There is the Children's Beach that is roped in and has a slide, Main Park with the grills,  tables and playground equipment and the West Beach, which gets deep fast and has a great slope  that is used in the winter for the kids snow hill. This lake is surrounded primarily by a 200 ft greenbelt so that when you are on your floaty or paddle boat or kayak, you are surrounded by pines and various hardwoods. It is a Northern Michigan feel without going all the way Up North. There are trails that are on the upper and lower path of the greenbelt . During the winter you frequently see people cross country skiing and at the lagoon there's a group that clear off the snow for ice skating. I could not imagine any better place to live than in this neighborhood where as similar to the old ''Cheers" show, everyone knows your name.

A neighbor that came over to gather some rats and skeleton bones says to me, ' There is a gentleman down at the lake who says he is looking to move into the neighborhood and asking lots of questions of the residents'  Ta Da!!..super agent Connie dons her cape to fly over there but wait, much to my surprise here comes the guy walking down the street with various real estate papers in his hand! So I introduce myself and proceed to talk up the area and add to his already extensive knowledge. After building a  rapport I offered to take him around and get him into some of the houses that are for sale and show some empty lots he might be interested in. We had a wonderful time and the day couldn't have cooperated better in allowing a home to be shown in such a good light. We will be in touch and I think maybe...just maybe ...he might be interested in a home I have listed.

I am finding that in this business you just never know when, where, why or how the clients will find you but just stand about on a beautiful day with a clear and open mind and you might be pleasantly surprised!

Oh by the way if you have any clients who may be moving into Michigan and would like a small town, safe and friendly place to live in Oakland or Livington county,  check out our website for Dunham at http://www.dunhamlake.org/ and call me! I will be happy to show you around. I just so happen to have an amazing house listed that would be perfect!  http://im3.imagemaker360.com/Viewer/3.asp?id=76136oy  Enjoy the week!!

Ouch, it is 78F and it is gorgeous there. It is 78F (the coldest so far in the last 4-5 months), windy, rainy, which is quite rare, and reminds both of us about the winter.

But how different is the perspective! 78F is great there, 78 today is on a cooler side here. I got so spoiled by Florida, that it is difficult to me to imagine even 32F, leaving alone -32F, which was a normal winter temperature (and it could go to -40 and even below, though rare) with constant strong winds and numerous blizzards where I used to live in the Arctic.

Can't even imagine it. It is like a passport. Shows you the visas of places you sent but you may have no recollection of them (not necessarily because of getting senile).

Anyway, good luck, good winter, and if it gets too cold, come visit us here in Florida.

That is wonderful how you picked up a lead!  I know what you mean about crazy weather, it was 75 degrees here yesterday and today it's been snowing all day and very cold!
