The great thing about the internet is that potential clients can find you via your web site. The bad thing is that often the only contact information that you are left with is an email address, which is not always even valid or complete. When you answer an email you really never get a good feel for the exchange that you have had with this person. We always feel more confident that a potential client is more serious when they include a phone number for follow up. Voice contact lets you have an opprtunity to get follow up questions answered on the spot and let's you find out more about the person. It seems cold to email a list of qualifying questions that can easily be slipped into a conversation on the phone.
The question that I want to pose is what are the best kind of leading questions to add to an initial response to an email request for information? What are the hooks to get that person to at least email again or better yet, call you? Does anyone have any good ideas on how to get a phone number?
