Stop Looking Back And You'll Move Onward And Upward!!!

Real estate is a tough business.   I’ve said this more than once.  It’s not for the meek and mild.  Nothing in the real estate business is personal.  It’s business!!  There are no “feelings” to be hurt if the answer is “no.”  You don’t look to the rear.  You look ahead, if you want to move ahead.

How many times have we expected or assumed that we had a listing, only to find out that the person is listing with someone else.  What did we do?  Did we offend someone?  Did we say the wrong thing?  How did we miss that opportunity?  It was suppose to be a “slam dunk” but it must have hit the rim and rebounded.  How did we lose it?

Nothing is guaranteed in this business.  It’s sometimes a one shot deal, and there’s no second chance.  We need to be on top of our game every moment.  All we can do is give it our best shot, and if we miss, we go on to the next shot.  Onward and upward is the slogan to remember.  Nothing should be taken personally in the real estate business.

You're so right, Barbara.

People make decisions based on what appears to be the best choice for their particular circumstances.

You will get another chance to win. Just learn from each "lesson" and keep moving forward.

Well stated Barbara! Real estate is and always will be a results orientated endeavor. We don't really have time to stop and "cry" if we want to succeed.

We need to analyze why we lost a deal to make corrections, but many times we will not truly know. We can only learn, do our best and continue to move forward.

I just had a long term client list their home with another Realtor who lives a few doors down from them.  At first I was slightly bothered.  Upon speaking with the past client I understood why they listed with the other Realtor.  They were sparing me the frustration of having to baby-sit their aging Mom who does strange things from time to time according to the past client.  This other Realtor had be-friended them over some time, is older than me, and had numerous interactions with their Mom.  They liked how she handled her, and thought she had the patience to endure what the their Mom would put her through.  Incidentally, this other Agent just told me she plans to take some time off from the business once she is done marketing this listing.  Moral of the story, sometimes we should celebrate the listings we don't get because it just might be a blessing we didn't expect?
