These beautiful Red Hot Poker Plants or Torch Lily's bloom in mid to late summer here in Albuquerque New Mexico. You do not see these everywhere but always an eye catching treat when you do. The hummingbirds absolutely love these things! The striking colors easily live up to their common name.
I don't think I've ever seen these before......even in a photo. Really unique flower!
H John, I hadn't seen these before but they do resemble something more common here in San Diego but definitely not that great terracotta color. Very nice photos.

any idea what zone they can live in? Do they grow in the mountains or the valley?

Hi Chistine, Yes Poker Plants are quiet unique. I'm not sure if Hummers like them or not. I personally have not seem our Hummers paying attention to them. One would think the color would draw the Hummers??

Glad you stopped by. New Mexico is beautiful and very diverse as most states are. One end you're in the flat desert the next your in the high lush wilderness.
