Red Hot Poker PlantThese beautiful Red Hot Poker Plants or Torch Lily's bloom in mid to late summer here in Albuquerque New Mexico. You do not see these everywhere but always an eye catching treat when you do.  The hummingbirds absolutely love these things! The striking colors easily live up to their common name.

H John, I hadn't seen these before but they do resemble something more common here in San Diego but definitely not that great terracotta color. Very nice photos.

Hi Ann~ Thanks for dropping in and glad you find these as unique as I do.  Enjoy your day!

William~ It would not surprise me if these are in your area. They love the sun but also like it dry. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Glenn,  Here is a link with all the particulars of this plant including multiple zone options.  I don't see this in the mountains, only in the valley.  Red Hot Poker  Thanks for comments.

Thank you Steve... I'm excited to find my post in the featured in Speechless Sunday section!

Hi Chistine, Yes Poker Plants are quiet unique.  I'm not sure if Hummers like them or not.  I personally have not seem our Hummers paying attention to them.  One would think the color would draw the Hummers??

Thanks to ALL that voted for the Red Hot Poker post!  I am humbled and honored.  Make it a good day in the Rain ~

Hi Kristin,

Glad you stopped by.  New Mexico is beautiful and very diverse as most states are.  One end you're in the flat desert the next your in the high lush wilderness.  You would enjoy the annual Balloon Fiesta I have posted about and will be again in the near future.  Quiet amazing.  May the force of the rain be with you~

What interesting plants!  And they are certainly aptly named - they do look like torches.

Hi Susan, Thanks for dropping by in the Rain.  They look like long red hot pokers.  Much like the type of tool used in welding or on a older day farm perhaps.  They are really beautiful.  Have a great Labor Day!
