I got another lead at a gas station

hardwood flooring kitchen westchester NYYes, I do seem to pick up leads in the oddest places.  This is now the 2nd appointment I got at a gas station. The first one was last summer and we were both getting gas and he saw the magnets on my car.  He is a landscaper and one of his long time customers needed carpeting.

Of course, for those of you who follow my blog, you know I got pulled over by the cops when he thought I was talking on my cell phone and he told me it wasn't legal in my county to use the magnets unless I had commercial plates, so now my marketing has been a tad inhibited.

Well last weekend, I got gas and the guy pumping my gas saw all the samples in my car and said, "no way...I'm looking for hardwood flooring."  He is moving into his first home and I met w/ him 2 days ago.  When he told me had that flooring place from TV, I knew I could beat their price and of course exceed their quality.  Hoping to hear good news from him in the next couple of weeks.

Pine wood floors - Westchester NYAlso, yesterday, I was in Starbucks in Briarcliff (what else is new?).  I was teaching someone to blog on Active Rain and the guy sitting next to me (who I've seen in this Starbuck many times and admiring the large sticker billboard on my computer.  Turns out he is a real estate investor and in a while, he may have a large job that I can bid on.

I guess you never know where leads can come from.  And, it's so much better when they ask for your services (rather than you asking them if they need help).  So, my general advice is do whatever you can to visually communicate what you do...wear your name pin, try car magnets, computer wraps, etc.

Compliments of The Flooring Girl.

Jerry - That is smart, too.  Love it.

Charlie - LOL...sounds like we all should go more often.

Lisa - Yes, definitely do that.  This is not the first time I've gotten a lead in Starbucks...and I've ran into pending customers and it's helped me close them just by running into them.

McKinney & Associates.  You are so right.  And, good for you.

Michele - Yes, apparently they are!

Debbie - Congrats on the leads!  That's unfortunate about the magnets because I bet they were a great conversation starter and/or source for leads.

Woo Hoo! Congratulations. I am freaked out that you have to have a commercial license to have magnets on your car! What about stickers?! Wraps? That is just wrong! Unless of course you are driving a semi or a bus!

Congrats!  How fun is that?  And you are right!  Let people know what you do in many different forms and it gives the person option to come to you.  You arms are always open.

Christine - Excellent.  Glad I could help inspire ideas.

Michelle - Yes, it was too bad.  But, they were a bit small anyway.

Joni - I know it seems wrong to me, too.  and, I can't get commercial plates as that would mean I couldn't drive on 4 of the major highways here.

Christine - Yes, exactly.  It's much better when they come to you.

You should have a little hair braid that blinks, "Flooring Girl."  That would help too...

Deb congrats on all the leads coming your way.  I am so glad you mentioned the magnet-I bought one for my car and totally forgot about it until you mentioned it here.  Shame on me-it has been on desk in an envelope for MONTHS.  Whoops!  Any idea where to get the laptop stickers?  I know yours came from your company.

Tammy - OOOOOhhh.  Great idea!

Deb - Oh good, glad I reminded you.  I'm guessing that any printer can get you a sticker - as long as you have graphics done (which you prob did for the magnet.

Debbie,

I remember you posting about the computer cover. As a matter of fact, I think I have it bookmarked. I need to order one of those things.

Debra - I'll look for it...but it was just a post talking abt how I had one.  I unfortunately don't know how to get one.  I just order from this place in Canada since they have them premade for us.  they do our vehicle wraps.

but, I used to know a sign guy and he had abiltiy to print stickers, so I'm guessing any printing place and any sign place would be able to do it, if you have the artwork.  Mine just cost $15 (+maybe $3-5 for shipping).
