Most of us acknowledge our name, company we work for and some type of greeting behind it on our voicemail’s. I have reached more than one VM of an agent this week and in the background of their recording I hear kids, either screaming or laughing – and in another a dog barking. I find it to be completely unprofessional and it leaves me wondering how they weren’t able to find 2 minutes to go into a quiet room and record what was going to be their greeting on their cell phone or office number.
Presenting a professional image isn’t limited to business cards or responding to emails. Its every last detail including your email signature and voice-mail greeting that creates your brand. Background noise on a voice-mail whether it be kids, people or anything else doesn’t present a professional image. It makes me wonder if they are that busy that they can’t get away from outside noises long enough to record a message and if that’s the case what will their clients think?
