Wild and Crazy Home Inspection Happenings

So I have a very funny story that is a first for me! And clearly for the buyer's agent, home inspector and the seller!

I am representing the Seller in a cash purchase transaction in Phoenix.  The home is a modest older home (1951) in a very nice neighborhood close to the downtown area.

On the day of the inspection, the seller is at home and the Inspector arrives.  The inspector tells the seller that he can stay and he does.  Just a few minutes later the buyer arrives with a designer from Classy Closets. OK, the seller allows them in. Not a big deal, but a bit odd since we didn't know this was going to happen.

Then 2 more decorators/Interior designers arrive and the seller allows them in too.  All the time, the buyer is saying how much she adores the vintage style of this home. Then the buyer's agent arrives for the Inspection summary.  Not unusual as we all know.

Now here's the clincher!  The buyer states to all (the seller, the home inspector, 3 designers and her agent)  that she has a medical condition that requires her to take 3-4 baths a day or she will be dibilitated, therefore she MUST take a bath in the bath tub before she can fully accept the home.Woman in Tub

So, the seller graciously provides a clean towel and while all 6 people wait outside in the living room, the buyer goes into the bathroom and takes a full fledged bath!    Door closed, clothes off, water drawn and all..........

It worked and she still LOVES the home, the seller was amused and all the industry professionals involved now have a new 1st and a hillarious story to share about our business.

I'm sure there are some other very funny home inspection stories out there, I'd LOVE if you'd share them with our AR family!

Laurie did you provide the candles, champagne, roses and some soft relaxing music?  No matter how long we are in the business there will always be great stories like this one.  Good Job!

That is really a first. I cannot imagine a buyer asking to take a bath in a home she doesn't own and the seller allowing it. I would have been a bit suspicious if that were me. Glad to hear the deal still went thru.

Stephen,

I wish I had been there to add to the ambiance, but I had to settle for extremely jovial conversations with the seller and the buyer's agent.

I was lucky she didn't slip and the seller was as amussed as we are about this home Inspection 1st.  :-)

Scott,

OMG, thos stories are wild too.  Thanks for sharing!
