There are lots of distressed properties on the market these days and I seem to be getting hired to perform Home Inspections on many of them.
Then I find issues with the home:
Iit needs a new roof.
There are plumbing leaks in the walls
The trusses have been modified
The foundation is moving.
Then the deal falls through and thy go find another house.
They call me for the inspection and seem to forget that I just saved them from making a costly mistake.
Instead they say "Since I used you for the last Home inspection, do I get a discount on this one?"
I also get investors that want me to go look at short sale properties and they want me to inspect them before they make an offer so their earnest money isn't tied up waiting for approval.
They plan on buying 5-6 homes and want to know if I will drop my fees.
I have been buying gas at the same place for 11 years. they don't give me a discount.
I spend hundreds of dollars at Costco every year and they still charge me for my membership.
I am looking for a nice way to tell these people that I have not raised my prices in 7 years, I have more education and experience than most of the inspectors in my area and I am worth what I charge, without sounding like a jerk.
Any ideas?
