When you go to a sandy beach, do you immediately start wanting to build sand castles?? I know I do - though my "castles" usually consist of a bucket of sand packed down and then turned upside down, possibly "decorated" with some shells or twigs etc. Fun, but not exactly noteworthy.
Olympia's Sand in the City is a whole different type of sand fun though! The annual event for 2011 will be held this coming weekend, August 27th & 28th, and there will be twelve sand sculptures on display that will pretty much amaze you with their creativity, fine detail - really masterpieces of sand artwork.
The event benefits the Hands on Children's Museum and there will be plenty of fun for kids in addition to viewing the sand sculptures. If they like to get their faces painted, climb a rock wall, blow bubbles or maybe make a craft project, they will be well entertained.
Don't miss Olympia's annual Sand in the City - another great summer outing that all ages will enjoy!
