Mickey Mouse and Traveling Shoes Run in Today's Birmingham Mayoral Race
You heard it right. Willis H. 'Mickey Mouse' Buddy Hendrix and Harry "Traveling Shoes" Turner are on the ballot today in an effort to unseat the current Birmingham Mayor William Bell.
Other candidates on the ballot are more life like as opposed to "cartoon-like" characters and they include:
Kamau Afrika a Birmigham activist and real estate investor who has unsuccessfully run for mayor in years past.
Patricia Bell (no relation to current Mayor William Bell), a childcare provider
T.C. Cannon, a local pub owner
and of course incumbent, Mayor William Bell who was sworn in as Birmingham's 33rd mayor on January 26, 2010 after several unsuccessful bids for the city's top spot.
Birmingham is already considered a political joke but much to everyone's surprise, William Bell has finally quieted the storm created by former mayor Larry "Attention Seeking, Attention Deficit Disorder, Showboat, Camerahound, Theatrical, Former Fairfield Alabama Mayor, Former County Commissioner, Current Kentucky Prisioner" Langford.
I hope they all have their running shoes on because it's going to be quite a race and hopefully we won't become known as the "New Mickey Mouse" Club.
