I have shown photos of these canna lillies before, but looking at the plant today I noticed how one flower is totally red and the rest are yellow. As Trudy said, they cut and splice bulbs together to make different hybrids or a mongrel flower, mongrel is a term used originally to describe two different breeds of dogs that have been mixed.
Made me think of all those real estate agents who have become mongrels, one part Realtor and and seven parts working another job to pay the bills. Can they really keep up with all the changes to the contracts, make sure their negotiation skills are sharp, know the inventory and the neighborhoods if they are spending most of their time at another job. Having two or even three jobs to make ends meet is honorable, and I applaud those who do, but it can also be dangerous if your client is depending on you to keep them straight and legal through a complicated process, making sure they hit their contingency deadlines, and second deposits on time so they are not in breach of contract. If you are so busy with other jobs can you really give your clients the attention they deserve, can you be reached easily, do you return the calls of your colleagues quickly, I am afraid from what I hear it is not the case.
So just maybe you don't want a mongrel real estate agent, but you want one who does this full time and is focused on their career and on your interests above their own.
