IS good SEO and SERP the ultimate definition of Internet success?

IS good SEO and SERP the ultimate definition of Internet success? With all of the fuss about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SERP (Search Engine Results Page) one would come to believe that good placement is the truest measure of Internet success.

But “getting ‘em there” is only part of the formula. Because if voracious web searchers don’t find what they are looking for within five seconds after loading a webpage they will “bounce” back to the results page.

The days of keyword stuffing and phrase packing are over. Even the best SEO must be accompanied by good and USEFUL content.

The abundant proliferation of meaningful information has grown exponentially over the last few years, and few will linger for a time consuming process of extracting precious facts from tons of raw ore.

Even if the bait is taken, you have to hook ‘em. And many a snagged lunker has been lost due to poor execution.

Forget the smoke and mirrors.

Content rules the day.

Content is important, and equally important is "reeling them in" when a client reaches out to us after reading our blog.  (Gosh, was that really a sentence?)  Anyway, this is a 2 part-process:  write good content that attracts new prospects and convert the prospects into clients.

Richard, I so true. People that are just beginning their career in Real Estate really need some computer education. You would be surprised at the amount of realtors that do not know about SEO etc.

Richard, I think relevant, up-to-date info on one's site is a must also; if I get directed to a site, I will only stay/register if it has the content I am interested in. Great posting, thanks!

I agree with you and Margaret.  Content is king and Google is all over that now.  You can't fool Google with keyword stuffing and poor content.  However, once you get them there, make sure there is a call to action - sign up for a newsletter, click here to get a free market analysis of your home, etc.

Richard...Have you been out on the lake fishing?  Your lingo would fit right in.

Prospecting is just like fishing, and we must do it on  a continual basis.

I agree completely with your post and the comments, HOWEVER, I do not agree regarding keyword stuffing, phrase packing, simply because website crawlers are are machines and creative humans can fool machines almost everytime, whether you aer fooling humans who read your content is another story. Does that make sense?

Margaret...

And it is NOT an easy process. It takes a lot of hard work, or a ton of money! Thanks so much.

Carol...

All the better for us! Thanks for the nice comment.

Michael...

And if it's not what you are looking for, you'll hit the "back" button quickly! thanks.

Richard,

The only measure of success is lead generation. It doesn't matter if you're on Page 1 or page 5,000, if it doesn't generate business, it's just a huge time waster...in my opinion.

You are so right.  You need both pieces to work together.  If only one part works, it's pretty useless.
