James Hook & Co. Boston MA

As some of you know I have relocated from Boston, MA to Los Angeles CA in the late 1990’s. I have been a Fan of James Hook since the late 1980’s. They have fresh Maine Lobster delivered daily. I could buy fresh lobster for around $4.99 a pound, not much has changed, now days you can buy it for anywhere from $5,99 to $7.99 a pound depending on size and time of year.

Since we moved out to Los Angeles, CA it has become tradition that if Diane goes back to visit family and friends she returns to Los Angeles with one or two Lobsters generally 2.5 -3.0 lbs range.  This trip I went along so I had to visit my favorite Lobster Seller in Boston, MA James Hook & Co.

Flight Ready Live Lobsters from James Hook & Co. Boston MA

James Hook is a Family Business and it has a small town atmosphere when you visit the source. Then again Boston has a small town atmosphere as well, so it makes sense. If you visit them, call them or e-mail them ask for Nancy and tell them Diane & Endre from California sent you. Not only will you be treated extra special, but you will get the freshest and best food imaginable.

They are located at 15-17 Northern Avenue, Boston, Ma 02210 www.jameshooklobster.com  617.423.5501(O)

Traditional Landmark Golden Lobster James Hook & Co

Look for the small building amongst the high rise and luxury buildings on the water front. If you can, focus on the Gold Plated Lobster on top of the storage room. I f you are looking for special tips on how to store, ship or cook send me a direct e-mail or call me and I will help you out. This is another easy but luxurious meal you can make in a short time.

I think we all have a favorite place we miss when we move away. But it's always great to come back for a visit. And it's even better when they can ship what you've been missing right to your door!

I did not realize you relocated from Boston.  I love that city, I have visited a couple of times.  I love lobster but have not had it in years.  There is nothing like the lobsters in New England.

Craig, you are absolutely right, when my parents used to visit us they would have it shipped since it was too hard for them to handle with the other bags....

Maureen who could not love Boston? It is in one of my top ten cities in the world

Tammy if you have the cravings now, wait till I post another one about the actual Maine Lobsters you will be ordering one or two after it:))

Let's hope that they are still in business after all the earthquakes and hurricanes have their way with the east coast.  But, this post made me so hungry......Thank you!

Suzanne, James Hook & Co is such a resilient company May 30th 2008 there was a huge fire at the original building and they remained true to their patrons and worked out of a Trailer for a while until the two newer buildings were erected. So I hope that they will survive the next Natural Disaster that is heading their way.

You mean you brought back live lobsters? No wonder why they were so cheap. But didn't customs and all those people have something to say about bringing live creatures into California. I thought there was lots of paperwork and inspections required to bring fauna and flora here from other sttates.

Jim, the biggest concern was at the TSA...good news they say it was packed at James Hook & Co. so no fear of potential trouble.... the rest was fighting the passangers. BTW bringing lobster on a plane is like having a dog and you are walking...everyone is your friend...
