Warren County Historical Society Hosts Beyond Baseball: The Life of Roberto Clemente
You might not expect Lebanon Ohio to be a stop on a traveling Smithsonian Institute exhibition, but you'd be guessing wrong if you thought not!
August 27 - October 8, 2011 the Warren County History Center at 105 S. Broadway will be hosting Beyond Baseball: The Life of Roberto Clemente. Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there's a $5 charge for Adults, $4.50 for Seniors, and $3.50 for Children (normal museum admission, so special surcharge for the event).
This exhibition is a collaboration of the Smithsonian Latino Center, the Clemente Family, and the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico and is a tribute to this great Pittsburgh Pirates baseball player remembered as much for his humanitarian efforts and early death as for his superior performance on the diamond. A Hall of Famer, winner of 12 consecutive Gold Gloves and in that select club of 3000 hits, Roberto Clemente was killed delivering earthquake relief supplies to Nicaragua. His work lives on with the annual Roberto Clemente Man of the Year award for baseball players community involvement.
The display does NOT include baseballs, jerseys or gloves, but is informational on the life of Roberto Clemente and his community involvement.
So don't miss your chance to see this special exhibit!
