Agents, you have my word...I would never make you witness this!

My mantra:  "There's a place for everything, and everything has a place."  You got it, to sum it up, I'm pretty much a neat freak.  I love fresh vacuum marks and my momma taught me to make the bed every morning.  The thought of actually crawling into unmade sheets gives me the jeebies.  Call me a little OCD and really, I'm ok with that.

Well, hubby and I have been empty nesters for over four years now, as it was four years ago our son left for the Marine Corps and our other two, have been on their own for quite some time.

Yesterday my brother and sister-in-law and neices from up north came down to visit.  My neices were soooooo excited at the thought of staying with Auntie Karen and Uncle Bill.  I just knew that Emily, the youngest neice (10) would INSIST on staying in the "Princess Room" as she calls it.  It's decorated in kind of French Toile theme.  Katherine (18) would get the other spare room with the hide-a-bed.

So, I woke this morning and headed into the office whilst the girls were deep in slumber land I'm sure.  I only planned to stay at the office for a few hours as I wanted to get home at an early hour to start preparing dinner for all of us, including my folks.  I got home to a quiet house, only to be greeted by Rodney, our beloved pooch.  I call out "anybody home"....silence.  I wasn't surprised as I figured most likely that once the two little angels woke up, they would head down to my folks house where my brother and SIL were staying.

Wasn't my OCD personality surprised to catch a glimpse of the following!  As an added bonus, Emily's panties were laying in the middle of the hallway (you can thank me for sparing you a photo shot of that one!)  My immediate thought was "Thank GOD we don't have our home on the market!"

I had to restrain myself from tidying up and decided just to shut each of the doors.  LOL.   I love Katherine and Emily to death!  Even though they are leaving tomorrow and I'm really going to miss them, I will feel a sense of "peace" knowing that the rooms will get a good straightening up.

Agents, you have my word. If you EVER have access to my home for showing to clients, it will NOT look like this!  LOL

Enjoy your day!

Karen, funny, I am kind of OCD like that too, that is kind of rude I think, if you are staying with somone, relative or not to not tidy up a little before you take off for the day, only courteous, but they are teenagers, so there you go.

Hey there Karen, I saw a sign the other day that suits this post.

'I am CDO, you may also know it as OCD but I put the letters the correct order!'

Karen:

Some kids just don't know what to do when visiting others.  They may assume the maid will come to put everything in order like they do at a hotel.  Thank you for sparing us the photo of Emily's panties.

Hi Yvonne!  Thanks for the visit. What's funny is that my brother and SIL aren't "that" way.  Although, admittedly, my son (The Marine) was a complete slob...despite the surroundings he grew up in.  Enjoy your day and thanks for the visit!

Hi there John.  I have to agree with you on the rude factor.  I was a little "miffed" when I first caught sight, then just shrugged it off and thought "hey, what a great thing to blog about!"  Guess they gave me a subject matter for this afternoon.  lol  I hope you are enjoying your day!

Jacque and Larry...I NEEEEED that sign!  LOL   I'm thinking of posting a sign on each bedroom door.  Enter at your own risk!  lol.  (hmmmm...wonder if I can find some yellow crime scene tape!)  lol  Thanks for the visit!

Hi Evelyn!  Kids...whatchya gonna do?!  lol  And you are most welcome for the spared photo.  ;-)  All the best to you!

Karen, I may still have some crime scene tape from my police days...

I thought the sign was funny too but this was the first instance where it would work into a conversation. :)

Oh Jacque, I bet you have some great stories!   Several years ago when I worked for Washington Mutual for April Fools day one year, I got to the office WAY before everyone else.  I wrapped the building with yellow tape then went across the street to see the reactions when co-workers showed up.  It was a hoot!  Have a terrific weekend!  :)  Oh, and how's the rhubarb?  ;-)

Karen, OK, I had to look up OCD to see what it means, so I guess that's not me!

Neatness is important, happiness and love is more important, sometimes we have to get out of judgement and into curiosity, were they happy??  Where they just in a hurry and will clean up when they get back??

This looks pretty normal to me, when teenagers or younger are involved.  I agree with Ted's comment, happiness and love is more important....to me, it's not something that is earth shattering..

Morning John!  I've missed seeing you lately!  Hope you are doing well.  I wish I could say the same about me.  ;-)  Have a great weekend!

Agreed Ted.  As I said, I love my nieces to death...they are very special girls.  Oh, and no, when they returned, no clean up in order.  And, they are still sleeping soundly this morning.  Have a great day!

Hi Virginia!  You're right; very normal for teenagers.  As I mentioned, just haven't been used to having kids around for awhile!  Enjoy the day!  :-)

Hello Karen~ What a panic attack for an OCD type! My wife and I both are so freaking compulsive so we get the horror you went through.  I'm proud of you for walking away, shutting the door and I'm sure pacing in your mind frantically.  I bet you enjoyed the company just the same!

Good morning John!  Glad I'm not alone!  LOL.  I actually had to chuckle about the situation.  Again, gave me good fodder to blog about!  It was a great visit with them and I will say, prior to their departure, they had things back in a fairly orderly state.  I did however need to "fix" the pillow placement.  ;-)  Have a terrific day!
