As part of the sesquicentennial anniversary celebration, Boy Scout Pack 350 has taken on the task of planting 50 new trees in Carter park!  The Scouts are sponsored by St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  I think this is a great way for the Scouts to feel involved in the celebration.  I also think it can help to instill a sense of pride in the community and importance of giving back through service.

Madison Alabama Real EstateAlso, as part of the celebration, a time capsule is in the works!!  How neat is that?!?!Madison Station Historical Preservation Society members welcome ideas on what to put in a time capsule that will be buried on Feb. 13, 2008. Suggestions can be submitted at knology.net/~madisonhistoricalsociety/.

Send in your suggestions or maybe if you have some items to donate you can be a part of Madison Alabama history!!

Marchel, I think its an activity that the Scouts will remember for a lifetime.  They got a chance to help be a part of the city's 150th anniversary and anytime they return to that park they can remember being a special part of it.

Kimberly, What a good cause. I wish they would come here and plant some trees for us. After all these wildfires we need all the green we can get.

Hey Kimberly,

It's good to see the scouts get involved with something like this.

Kimberly...this is great!  Too many today don't realize what it's like to give back to their country, the state, their city.  I think community service, like the boy scouts do, should be mandatory for everyone.

Mana, that would be a great event after everything is over.  Maybe it could be something we could all pitch in to organize.  Its worth a thought.

Jill, every chance I get I'm out in the city.  When I see things going on, I ASK QUESTIONS!!  Our city has a lot to over so I try to stay up on things so I can get out and spread the word!

Lynda, I absolutely agree!!  I think its good that they learn early about the importance of helping others.

Mary, I agree.  That is a great idea.  Maybe in schools they should institute some type of community service.  Just like you go to lunch and PE... go to community service.
