Stand Tall Trees, Please!

This photo was taken earlier today.  You can't see the downpour or the wind ripping through these trees but it was all happening.  Still is! I'm saying my prayers these tall boys stand strong against the winds and rain.

These trees are in our backyard. The smell of fresh wood is strong when I open the door to peek out.  A tree must be down close by.  Our forsythia has been uprooted along with a rose of sharon bush.  Our mailbox took off down the street earlier.

On a great note -- we still have power!  The news reports say over 70% of the poor folks here in Virginia are now without power.  I know the street behind us must be out because a generator can be heard in the distance.

I will keep good thoughts for all those this mean storm, Irene, is still coming to visit tonight.  She sure is a slow moving storm.  We've been having high winds with gusts up to 70+ since before noon today.  It's a little bit scarey!  Hopefully, by midnight or so, it should start to calm down some here in Chesterfield.

Take care all and if you are in this storm's path, please stay off the roads and keep safe.  Oh and maybe DUCK!!

Cindy

Thank you all for the kind remarks.

Tara, I will think of you through the night and say a prayer that mean Irene weakens and goes quickly away!

So many people are without electricity tonight and the news just reported the fatality record is now up to 5.  One man died here in Chester earlier today.  A tree fell into his home killing him and sending a woman in the same home to the hospital.  So sad.

Prayers for all those Irene has already hit and to those she is about to visit.

Stay safe - stay home - tomorrow is a new day.

Andrea, I hope your trees are still standing!  We made it through and our trees ARE still standing tall!  We lost a couple of bushes but no major mishaps.  We are very thankful since a few of our neighbors did not fare so well.  We still do not have power but that is a small sacrifice to deal with considering what so many others are going through.  I made it to the office today --electricity is ON!!!!  yipee!

Take care!
